good tires

do good tires make a big difference in speed? if they do who makes a good set of 26mm's ? some that dont wear out quick

Try venom racing. I have a set of twisted turner style rims with their pre-glued magnetics tires and they stick well and have served me pretty well. I have had them for about a year and they still have plenty of tread left on them. It would also help to know whether you are just bashing or you are actually racing. If just bashing the venoms or maybe even a set of HPI belted slicks or belted x pattern tires with medium inserts. If racing try a set of foams with about 35 shore.

i am just gonna bash with them...i have a set of hpi's d compound tires with the x pattern right now but i will check how venom racings work the hpi's are still in good condition except for sratches on the rim
