anyone know some good cheep servos?? i need a high torque for tha savage..
i found some that clame 144 oz @ 6.ov and 126 oz @ 4.8v for 20 bucks.. the brand is bluebird anyone heard of um?? if not anyone know any like that for simular price?? thanks..

The most popular used servo for savage steering is teh Hitec HS-645MG. It is around 40$ and has 133 oz./in. of torque.

Well you get what you pay for. You can find good "cheap" high torque servos but over the years I've seen a lot of them fail. Stick with an Airtronics or my favorite, Futaba, I have Futabas over ten years old that crank like the day I bought them. Lot of people use Hitecs too.

I've seen a lot of references to the bluebirds in various places, and while those will probably work, I think they are **really** designed for aircraft use. I say this because in another location a few RC'ers were complaining about how easily the cases broke, I just don't think they were designed for the punishment we give 'em.

keep in mind... $40 for that particular servo is what they go for NEW. I just bought one the other day for my TMaxx

The 645mg is awesome for steering. I also have one on my t-maxx and it can actually turn the wheels when they arent moving! I was impressed... i guess the UE SS had a part in that too. :hammer:

I agree with the group as well. I have two HiTec 645's one in my TMaxx and the other in my 1/8 buggy. It is worth the extra $20. Now HiTec isn't top of the line, but those things are tough. The Airtronics and Futaba make great stuff but you will pay for it. You could also try Ebay, maybe find a few well taken care of used ones. Like the others have said, you do ultimately get what you pay for. Besides you could spend $40 now and could possibly never have to buy another servo, or you could spend $20 bucks and have to spend $20 bucks every year. Again this is just my :2cents: Not the gospel. Good luck my friend.

I just got the Blue Bird servo you are talking about, the BMS-620. I also picked up the MG set for it.The only thing I may do is plasti dip it to make sure nothing gets into it. Total was about $30 shipped and I got it in 2 days,we'll see how it holds up this coming race season. I know some on-road guys who use Blue Birds,so I thought what the heck. For the Savage I would go with the hi-tq servo they have.......http://www.balsapr.com/catalog/Servos/bluebirdStandardServos.asp

those numbers and pretty impressive for the price. I'd say it's worth a shot... worse thing that can happen is that it doesn't last very long. then you know what kind of quality your dealing with. I believe that in general you get what you pay for but sometimes there really is a better deal out there waiting to be discovered. can't win the lottery if you don't play.....

Thats what i'm hopeing for Lessen!!!! I will let everyone know what I think of them after I get the Storm put back together.

There's been a lot of people getting them for their Revo's when going to a single servo. I was thinking about getting one myself and the only ones I could find were just as much (with shipping) than what I could get a JR for so I went with it to throw some money at the LHS. Haven't put it in yet though.
If you plan to run in rain, snow, or slop, plasti-dip, you won't be sorry.

Yeah I've got a bluebird one for steering in my sav, it has some pretty impressive numbers, it was the most expensive bluebird in lhs and i bought it in an "emergency" can't remember what the numbers are now though, something like 13kgs of pull, so far its worked as well as the 645 before that stripped on me a while ago.......the splines are the same size as futaba...but its not long been in there, its done maybe 10 tanks so far.

should my tires be able to turn on say the nitro MT when its sitting still cause they do is this becuase it has smaller wheels? it doesn't seem like its a heavy duty servo or anything

Maybe something in your steering linkages is binding? Are you running a nimh pack or AAs? I can turn the wheels on my savage while sitting with the 645, and that is with heavy beadlock rims and stock tires.

I have the Hitec 645mg in my T-maxx and have one on order for my new savage ss 4.6 kit. it is awsome. very strong and worth the $40.
