What are you looking for as far as a kit? Are you racing or bashing? Would you be going with the street car, stadium truck, monster trucks, buggys or truggys? Need a little more information.

For a monster I would really recomend the HPI Savage X SS. Really well designed truck thats really strong and one of the best bashers out there.

Are you looking to build or get a Ready To Run? What is your budget? Where do you plan to run?

I ask because, a kit requires: Engine, Exhaust, All Electronics, maybe wheels and tires

a RTR has mostly everything but batteries and Nitro fuel.

Your budget is a big help to. What can you spend?

Also Parts availability. I try to support my LHS.My LHS gives me pretty good deals. If not Online is a way to go. When picking a kit or RTR, will they stock the parts to replace or fix what you break?

And your terrain to drive on. Parking lot? Dirt areas. A 1/8 Nitro buggy can go most places but a 1/8th Nitro MT drives its way through more.

So a little help ..

Then you are probably looking at either a Revo, or Savage. I would suggest the LST2 but its much more. You can get the Aftershock or even the Mega Baja but you will upgrade a lot to get it bash worthy close to a LST2 or even an LST1.

Hope this helps you get something soon!!

i can't seem to find a revo kit... do you know of any sites on the web that have them? i've found the savage though... thanks.

I just finished a Savage X SS kit build, It was a GREAT kit. The quality, fit, and finish was unlike anything I've seen in a RTR or kit. You can see pics and the building process documented in my savage build thread.

I highly recommend this kit, it has been great. The power is EXPLOSIVE.

jon,
i'm looking to build, run on dirt, maybe sidewalk, and grass, and no more than $500. Thanks.
My bad..

the Revo is not a kit. just the Savage.. May I suggest a truggy of some sort? Most MT's are RTR if I am not mistaken Truggies would be the way to go but your budget woulld go right out the window.

His budget is only 500. Most truggy kits will cost more than 500 by itself. Used is a different story but he wants to build it.
For the price the Savage 4.6 SS is the way to go. Great truck and its currently the only MT on the market that is a kit.

these are ready to run... i need kits that i can assemble. sry maybe i was unclear.

None of Traxxas's models come in kit form. I think they should start making the Revo in a kit form, though, since some people like buying their own stuff for it. The new Platinum Revo kind of alleviates that issue but it's still an idea.

do you know how much of the kit is built? or is any built at all? for example... do all parts come separate and you have to put each and every single part together or are some pieces of the kit together, and you just have to finish th building? thanks

which kit? If you're talking about the Savage kit, you pretty much put every single part together. Most of the engine is together, you just have to build the clutch and put the flywheel on, that kinda stuff. The transmission is already built and the diffs are mostly together. Other than that, you build everything. It took me about 10 hours taking my time and enjoying the build maybe 12, something like that.

yes the savage... ok cool... i asked because I've seen kits where everything is installed and in tact except for the engine and electronics. thanks
