Found a HPI Baja 5b that says "never ran, all assembled except tires and rear shocks". For $700, would be a local pick up so no shipping would be needed...

That's a heck of a deal, you can even see it first to verify what the guy is telling you, I would snap it up for sure.

Right off the bat you need to make sure it's not a King Baja Clone POS.

Is it an SS, 2.0 or the original Baja? Original Baja has the purple chassis. Not worth it if it's the original and bone stock.
Any upgrades?
Does it include all radio gear?

One thing to keep in mind is that you can get a brand new Baja SS kit for around $750. The only thing you need for it would be a throttle servo and radio gear. It comes with a steering servo and a receiver battery.

Ok thanks for the input guys. It says its a "HPI Racing Baja 5B SS" but I'll for sure check it out.
Where can you get the SS kit for around $750? I've not really looked.

Tower.

You would just need to become a club member for $9.99 and wait for the right club coupon codes to be sent to you. I paid $730 shipped for mine back in '08.

SNG -

Check out Davesmotors.com if you really want to pick up a new SS Baja. they are currently having a 15% sale on in-stock items and that makes the SS 739 shipped. i dont think you can beat that price.

as for the baja you're talking about, definitely make sure its not the Rovan or KM clone. they look very close but are said to have lesser quality plastic and metal. i personally have no experience with the clones so i can not confirm that point...

another option is to check out some of baja forum for sales. there are a few listing that look great.

it shouldnt be...i forget the code off hand but the discount code needs to be applied at checkout. shipping is free if the order is more than 100 bucks

Well I may have jumped the gun, for us up in Canada that is a good deal but it's hard to find a new one for under $900+

I dont see them used very often so I'm used to seeing a $1000+ price tag so it seemed real good to me too so no biggy.

SNG - badboy2 is selling a baja buggy for about 600. I'm pretty sure it started out as the SS kit. Its used but has a decent amount of hop ups. I've seen the buggy and have dealt with him a few times. Good guy and straight shooter.

Yeah I dont have any money lol. I was gonna try and trade some 1:1 wheels/tires for that one.
