Hey guys. I have a t-maxx 3.3 and bin going thew glow plugs. I put a new glow plug in the other day, ran the truck (ran about 2 to 3 tanks) and put in after run oil in (WD-40). Truck sat for 2 to 3 days went start it and won't start. Put in new glow plug and started right up. I'm useing stock traxxas glow plugs. The engine is tuned right (Runing about 250 to 270 temp.) smokes good. Just don't know. If i run it all day, i have no problems. Anyone know of a better plug or if i'm doing thing wrong. I've put in 4 to 5 plugs in and less than 3 weeks. Any help wound be great. Thankyou.

If your burning up glow plugs your probably running lean, check for air leaks. You can still be lean running at 250-270...

my idea is that wd40 is to thin for me, i use marvel mystery oil for after run oil. but NOT in the fuel. i all so run it in my 1:1 truck.

I was having that problem too... Richened out a little bit and kept engine temp around 230. Didn't really notice a loss of power and I haven't had to change a glow plug yet

I have better luck with a medium plug. seems like a debatable subject! no two engine are the same, you may need to experiment on your own.
PS dont use after run after every use, its really not nessesary unless your putting it away for a period of time. IE winter.

My glow plugs are lite gray, when there bad and the coil was spung out on the one. I orderd hot glow plugs 3 weeks ago. But there on back order. Hope to see them soon.

A grey coating usually means it's too lean. One other reason that it could be going through plugs is it may have worn bearings or rod, if it has a fair amount of fuel run through it, it may be time for some maintenance.

I've only got about 2 gal. thew it and how wound a worn bearings or rod eat up glow plugs?

A worn rod and bearings have play in them, this play will let the piston go higher in the sleeve at TDC adding compression. An engine that is over compressed will either detonate or cause the plugs to get squished. I have seen it happen many times where an engine starts to eat plugs and after replacing the rod and bearings the issue goes away.

Bad bearings and/or a loose rod bushing will also cause the rod to rub the bottom of the case, which causes aluminum bits to take out your plug.

If my bearing are gone in only 2 gals. of fuel the 3.3 is by by and i'm going engine shoping for a big block.

^^^^that's what I did.....^^^^^ and then I got mad about my 3.3 having less than 1 gallon in it and I sent it back to traxxas, in turn they sent me a new eng. Now my new 3.3 is going in my NTC3, and my Tmaxx is getting a .31
