Hey guys I am planning on bashing with a few friends on Sunday, and the weather is supposed to be in sunny and in the 40s. Can anyone recommend a good cold weather glow plug? I normally like to use OS plugs in my OS engine, my hobby shop carries OS3, OS5, and OS8, but I am not sure which is the best for cold weather running. Thanks

If you want a really good plug see if they can get a McCoy #9, or #59. I've used McCoys for years and in my opinion they are better than OS plugs.

What % nitro you runnin?

What mill?

What size?

What vehicle?

I'm going to venture to say med-hot. Dont run a cold. Also, dont let the ride cool down outside. Especially if its in the low 30's. You can run the risk of warpage. Also, try to fire it up in the back of your vehicle if possible. Dont know what kind of ride you have. Or even in the garage. Dont know where your bashing.

Christian,

20 % Nitro
OS CVX .15 with a Hardcore Mutant head
T-Maxx
I can fire it in the back of my Jeep Wrangler

outside temps will be in the high 40s to low 50s

Of the OS plugs listed what are the temps on the plugs. Do you use a cold plug in cold weather, or a hot plug, and vise versa. Thanks

OS A3 = ? hot or cold plug?
OS A5 = ? Med plug?
OS 8 = ? hot or cold plug?

On the back of all plug packaging should be the heat ratings. With your setup, I would be VERY comfortable with a medium or even a medium/hot. I have not run any colds in any of my mills yet and havent had any problems.

Bring an old blanket with you, crack open the back hatch and just start it inside. Then move it to the outside for running. When done, bring it back into the back of the truck for cooldown. This is only for VERY cold temps. 40-50 you should be fine doing what you normally do. Even the plug, keep it the same.
