glow plug problem

Pull the glowplug and connect the blue lead to the plug. Place the threads on the head so
you can see the coils. Hit start. Does it light up?

So its not a glow plug problem. Can u see the fuel moving into the carb?

sounds like there is a bad ground, either where it bolts down to the engine, or a break in the ground wire, that sometimes makes contact then sometimes dont make contact,
I had this problem w/ my revo and ended up replacing the complete wiring harness,
now i have gotting rid of the ez start system and use a roto start and independent glow ignitor, problem has gone away :D

I have no doubt that the the wire works. In the video I took the wire with the glow plug attached and put it on the head. it worked and the glow plug light lit up. If you put the glow plug back in and try to start it the glow plug light doesn't light up. I let a friend drive it and this happened after he flipped it. Before that it ran ok.

I know for a fact that both glow plugs work well. I tested them.

There is a light on the starter pack

You said it works intermittently when you place it on the head. Look at the ground like the other guy said.

I guess I didn't have it on very well. Now every time I put it on the head it works. It doesn't work when bolted in the engine though. THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME.

There was no visible damage. It just died and would not start back up. That's when I noticed that the glow plug light on the starter wasn't working. I have flipped this truck many times without any problems other than scratching the body.

Ok I will see what I can do. Its like its not getting a ground in the threads for the glow plug but I already cleaned the threads with no results.

if you can try a different a different started pack,(the complete hand held, not just the batt)
sometimes they will cause this type of problem.
I have one here that will turn motor over but will not light the glow plug.
new from LHS is about $14.
mine seemed to not pick up the ground when plug was in the head ,but would intermit light when just held against head,

if you have a electrcial multi meter you can put it on tone settting, take ground loose from engine ,place one lead on eyelet and the other on the ground pin
if it tones you got ground, once you get a tone, start moving the wire , if it breaks tone you have a broke wire..
if you have any ?'s please feel free to PM me
I still feel its either a ground issue or a starter wand going bad, either way they both are cheap to fix

I like the fact that all I have to carry around is a starter pack on my belt. I am just going to replace my starter pack and get a new set of easy start wires when I get paid. I will probably get some parts to rebuild the engine as well. This truck is used and is a big piece of crap! I paid way too much for it but oh well it will be a lot of fun when I get everything fixed.

+1 on the separate ignitor. It fits right in the pocket that the wand hangs on, and makes the wand battery last a lot longer. Easier starts, too.
