Yep.
Throw it away and buy a glow ignitor.
Seriously.
My "wire" never worked great on my first or second T-Maxx.
 
I bought new one for it for like 2 bucks soldered it on and used about 3 to 4 inches of heat shrink. Protects better than just the wire being exposed.
I tried the glow ignitor but i didn't like using the starter wand and the ignitor to gether to much of a hassle IMO.
If my wand or EZ start ever goes to the grave, i will go glow ignitor and pull start tho.
