Hello I'm new, picked up a first gen tmaxx a few weeks ago and have been consumed with reading about it ever since.

My question is it came with a extra battery for the glow plug, the guy i bought it from said it helps keep it running and keeps the glow plug on while its running.

Is anyone know anything about these, how well do they really work, should i keep it on or ditch it?

Thanks for the info in advance.

I can't speak for how well it works, but if the engine is tuned right and not worn out then there is no need for that.

I searched google and found its called a glow driver, JHM engineering makes it and it looks like its popular with the r/c plane crowd to prevent "flame outs". It has a control box so u can set for when it comes on, mine is currently set to come on when the throttle dropps below 1/3 throttle.

I kind of figured with it tuned right there should be no need for it. I was just curious if i should keep it on since i already have it or take it off to simplify it. I'm leaning towards taking it off, to me simpler is better.

Might make a worn out engine run a tad better. I'd tune my maxx a little richer down low so it would idle down. Only way it'll idle is by unscrewing my idle screw almost all the way out and keepin' it so lean on the lsn that it idles high. Barely doesn't move. Any richer and it dies. This engines happy at about 290.
