micro rs4 w/ a MC230CR esc.

for now I'm using my stock T-Maxx receiver and TQ3 radio.

I have a R133F FM receiver just wating to get a radio for it. but I'm thinking its a ESC problem because My Maxx was totally fine with this receiver and radio.

The mini gets about 5-10ft away and looses all responce, stops and sits there glitching up a storm. ESC is beeping. soon as I get closer say 2-5ft all is fine.

Antena isnt touching the CF chassis or alum at all. BTW this is with the body off or on if that matters.

any ideas befor I toss this esc and get a IDP one and speed 300.

:dumb:

FSTFBDY, Check all your solder points. The esc was fine.
Unless you have a cut in your receiver wire.
Is the gear mesh ok?
If I can help, let me know.
Sorry your having a problem

So you know the radio is a good one right? Does the motor have 3 caps? It was something I had no idea about but you need 3. one goes from + to - and one goes from - to ground, and one goes from + tp ground. From what I understand if you do no put caps on a motor it will mess with radio interference or the radio messes with the motor. I have always used them cause I read it was a must. I use these as they are easier.

Yeah, thats why I said to check the solder points.
So many times I soldered the wires on to the motor, and knocked of a cap.
What has me confused is that he was using the car without a problem. I think.. Right FSTFBDY??

All solder points are fine. I put that new motor in the bag in. 3 caps are on it. Good Solder was used and look good.

The receiver antena does have 2 small nicks in it. but they were there when I used it on my Maxx also and I didnt have any problems. maybe its worse with a ESC in a electric car and not noticed in a Nitro.

I really need to get a FM Radio and use the R133F receiver in the micro.

Everything else is good gear mesh is fine. etc.

anyone hear about this?

I would be willing to send you my extra Novak Spy for you to test it to see if it is the ESC, just send it back when done or you can pick it up from me for a good deal if interested, not really a sales pitch here I was just wanting to give you something for testing. Let me know and I can mail it to you FSTFBDY.

check to see if anything is caught in the belt or gears.
make sure the diffs are turning freely.

Just thinking. If you had the soldering iron on the motor tab too long, you may have overheated a capacitor. they can get ruined from heat.

graphite is a conductor, Do you have the receiver mounted directly on the graphite?
if yes, put a couple of pieces of servo tape between the receiver and the chassis.
Thats why that chassis has that plate for the receiver.

good luck, and let me know

Id really like a IDP in the long run but how much for the SPY? is it Am or FM?

I have a R133F just no FM radio to use wiht it.

The receiver is dipe din liquid plastic so that on CF chassis can't be the problem. I had it waterproofed when on the Maxx.

I will sell the SPY, which is unused for $45, the IPD is the same price from what I remember but the SPY has more features. Like I said if you just want to test is I will ship it to help ya out and you can send it back when done. ESC are niether AM or FM from my understanding, the just control how much power goes to the motor (or doesn't go to the motor). So when you pull your throttle trigger it increases power as you pull further (like your carb opening up).

DOhhhh My bad on Am or FM......lol. I just woke up.

I'll tak eya up on your testing offer to see if thats the problem. Rem my addy? if not its on www.cecoatings.com

np I am glad to help out a fellow hobbyist, and you and I have delt with a lot of trust stuff so I know its there. I myself hate to purchase something just to prove one part is working or not even though I have to do it more than I would like to admit.

Thanks Man... I will.

For the hell of it Just now I added on my deans ultra connectors. to battery and esc. and I redid the motor soldering also.

same thing I even re-mounted the receiver on some 3m tape liquid diped the small nicks in the antena with no luck.

I have a feeling the esc might be on its way out. A few times I had steering reponce but no motor. Shoult it off and turne dit back on and all was fine again.

Will let ya know soon as I get the spy in and going.

Thanks Again

If you want I had a bad on off switch on my Spy that is on my Mini-T right now. I just twited the 2 wire together and when the batt was plugged in it was on, and when it is unplugged it is off. I ended up soldering them togehter in the long run but you might check that, dunno really other than what you did.

Mmm, good call I didnt think about that. I'll give that a shot later when I mess with it.
