I've exhausted all my resources, I've tried everything, I don't know what else to do... Just finished breaking in a new motor on a new R40 but whenever the car gets 50ft or more from me it gets these glitches ( It turns right for no reason, it goes WOT for a few seconds, ect ) this never happens within 50 or so feet... I've rewired the car 3 times, currently every wire is individually wrapped in electrical tape, no wires are in contact to carbon fiber or metal and nothing is pinched... I'm using a Futaba 3PM-FM controller, Futaba S3010 servos, Futaba 133F receiver. This is the same setup I have on my Rs4 3 with never this kind of problem.... I don't know what else to check for...
Please help!

Is your battery fully charged? Check to make sure your antenna wire hasn't been nicked or cut at any point.

Is your battery fully charged? Check to make sure your antenna wire hasn't been nicked or cut at any point.

Does it do this only when the car is running? It might be something to try out.

my Futaba radio used to do that when it got to far away from me. Try turning on the radio and reciever, starting the car and leting it idle. Now, with you foot as a brace and holding the rig firmly, turn OFF your radio. Compare the effects of your radio being off to what happens when it gets 50 feet away.

Look for changes in the direction of the steering hub and examine the throttle linkage carefully.

Battery is fully charged, both in the transmitter and car... antenna wire is is good
shape... I had a friend of mine hold the transmitter ( engine not running ) while I walked over 100 feet away, no glitches , only the input he applied... so it's happening with the engine on...

OK I just tried Tweak's idea and yes, it's the same effect ! Does this mean that my radio is loosing power intermediately ? What do I do now ?

Check to make sure all your screws and nuts are tight, then check for anything else rubbing metal to metal. That will cause issues.

I would think it means you radio is getting too far out of range. if it's the stock radio it very well could be a plausible senario. Also the vibration could be causing probles, if there were no glitches when the engine was off. high frequency noise can do that sometimes. If you don't have a radio box on the rig, get one. I used Dynaymating inside the boxes on my RC10GT and the new Mammoth I got, it works great.

OK... I'm going to go over the entire car again and look for metal to metal...
screws are all tight...
Out of range...hummm... it's never happened with the Rs4 3, same radio gear...same
distance at the track...
It couldn't have anything to do with the crystals could it ?
What is a radio box ? The casing for the receiver ?
and what is Dynaymating ?
Is the Futaba 3PM-FM a stock radio ?

Radio boxes dont' exist on onroad cars
dynamat is a sound deadener used on 1:1 cars
Futaba 3PM is not a stock radio

It could be the xtals in your reciever. It could also be that the xtals you are using in the reciever are am instead of fm. If you have another set I would try that out. It might jsut fix your problem.

My HPI has a radio box on it
Dynamating works wonders for it
My RC10GT Came with a Futaba 3PM

I would definately switch the xals tho, they could be the problem.

I just changed the crystals...
Antenna wire is straight out of the receiver box up the antenna tube and 4"
hanging out of the top...
I'll have to try it out tomorrow... it's getting too late to crank up the car around
here :) Thanks everyone for the input...

was this a new RX you put in? If so, I'd send it back to Futaba........

as far as the wire being cut, I've had a few incidents where a rollover would clip just a few inches off the end resulting in glitch problems...(if it is a used RX).......good luck with it.......when you find out the cause, be sure to let us know....

Does RX mean the receiver unit ? If so, yes it's new but I also tried my
older receiver unit and had the same problem... I hope changing the crystals
is going to fix this problem...

I had a similar problem, but what turned out to be faulty was that the crystal started to come out slightly through time from the vibration the engine would produce causing the car to total glitch! Thank god I have a fail safe. Lol, but I would go with the crystal solution and I am sure it’s from the crystals. if not then probably a faulty receiver etc.

Good luck

Well I just got back from my local parking lot... Not one glitch, and I even had the
car to what looked like 300 feet away... I can't believe after all that it was "bad crystals", how bizarre, Oh well...Thank-you everyone for all the help...

uhm make sure there isnt any wires running under the surface you are driving on. Everytime my dad drives his xxx-s over our invisible fence, his car does that. also is it nitro or electric? i had a smart temp on mine and it would do that too. i called them and they pretty much said replace everything electronic on it.
