I've not had any luck fixing my problem with my paint just splattering/running instantly when it hits the lexan. I've tried different brands of acrylic, different consistency's, not cleaning the lexan, cleaning it, no moisture traps, one and two traps, different pressures from 10-50 in 5 psi steps and nothing has changed.

If I'm trying to do any shadowing, fine lines, anything other than doing just a large area in thin coats, it spiders instantly. Its like it doesn't try to stick no matter what I try.
Sometimes on a peice of scrap it will seem to work good so I'll get started on a lid and only get a few seconds into it and it will mess up...

So....give up on airbrushing and go back to rattle cans? Or, spend the money on some lacquer and hope that makes a difference?

Thing that annoys me the most is I never had too much trouble until a few months ago.

What temp is the room you are shooting in? I know in the winter I have to heat the room I am painting in with a freestanding heater in my basement, or I have problems. What paint are you using for shadowing?

This started when it was still warm but its around 70-75 usually. I've had this problem with several different colors from both parma and pacta, doesn't seem to make a difference for me now at which one I use, it happens no matter what.....

Have you torn the gun apart and cleaned and inspected all the parts. I had a ton of trouble once and after wanting to give up I tore it all down. I had a bent needle and didn't know it. I use laquers only now too. No more water based paints. I have adheasion problems and spider webing as well. HtH

Yep, put new needle in it and a new tip. Guess I'll order some lacquer and pray its not a waste money.

Iwata revolution.

Hmmm, I use an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS and I have never had any issues like that, and I use acrylics about 95% of the time. Has it always given you problems or is it something that just started all of a sudden?

I dont remember exactly when it started but no it wasn't an issue always and nothing changed in my setup either, been the same equipment from day one....aaaarrrgggghhh

Could you have possibly got some bad paint.I mean if you havn't changed anything i can't see a reason for problems to start happening for no reason. I have always liked laquers very forgiving to me waterbase is for house painting.LOL:D

Lloyd, go pick yourself up a small can of that compressed air for airbrushing. If it eliminates your problems then there's something wrong with your traps or compressor. Either that or its your hand.

The only paint I've not had any trouble with lately is spaz transparent's, no problems at all.

I LOVE the way that stuff shoots, I wish all paints shot as nice.

Its lacquer right? All of theirs are lacquer too arent they? I might pick up a couple solid colors and see what happens.

I've replaced both trapps too with new ones and nothing changed.

What are you thinning the problem paints with?

Windex is what I've thinned some with, water on some others. But I have the same problem with both thinned and non thinned..........

You need to shoot the Parma with a lot more pressure than the Spaz. Your first coat should be nothing more than a fog coat, left to dry completely, before continuing to shoot the color. I've never had a problem with that paint, but you can't thin it too much or you have problems.
