aw man that is so not fair, I didn't know you were going to have FLAMES! Flames make a truck so much faster that it has to be in its own class. Oh wait, I got flames too, so it's ok. Beautiful truck. I can't wait to see how this baby runs.

Just so everyone knows, I'm building a track at my house and we're getting some club races going at the LHS. Smaxxin only lives about 45 minutes from me, and we both just bought new trucks just for the track. We will both be running the Castle Creations Sidewinder 4600 kv, and the trucks are pretty similar. It will come down to the ability to get our truck dialed and driving skills, and since I'm new to racing, my sabotage skills will probably be tested as well (calm down I'm just kidding)

Smaxxin, I look forward to many great days of bashing and racing, but I'm telling you, once you see what this 5b SS is capable of, you will be buying 10 acre tracks of land just to build a track big enough for your new 5b. Don't say I didn't warn ya!! Now I gotta get to a closing, just bought 3 10 acre tracks of land that I really didn't need, it's just part of the 5b progression (once again, kidding about the closing)

This will be your worst enemy

And if you defeat him, his big brother will come looking

Hey man, did you paint that?

Thats the stock prepainted body, it would be a lot uglier if I had painted it LOL

Bring it on, I have a few tricks up my sleeve =devil

I'll post how many laps I can make without needing a turn marshal LOL

Another nice package arrived today, a sidewinder 4600! I ran it for a few minutes on a cheap nimh pack and it was impressive but it did cog while accelerating unless I eased into it. I was expecting this with the battery I was using, the lipo's should be her some time next week. I also didn't realize that I would need the data link to turn on the low voltage cutoff but I think I know a guy that has one, maybe he will let me borrow it until I buy one :green-grin:

The guy that you know that has one WILL let you borrow it, and while you have it you can update to the latest firmware that castle just released that will eliminate most of the cogging.

I was wondering how close Castle was on there estimated speed chart that is posted on their site so I did a little speed check on the sidewinder, looks like they keep the numbers on the low side. The battery I used for this run is a 4 year old racers edge 3000 mah that has been run in mud and water and generally abused. To top that off I had to use an old wind up Hobbico charger because I sold all of my chargers so it was not peak charged. I had trouble keeping it in a straight line because it's 2:30 am and it's dark but it got up to 33.3mph......I'm very impressed! I'm going to try this again in the day light, I think it would have done a little more if I could have held it at WOT a little farther. It's going to get scary when I drop the Lipo batteries in it!

pic is a little blurry but you can see the max speed of 33.3 towards the bottom on the right.

that is sweet music to my ears. This system doesn't even begin to open up until you go LiPo, so it's gonna be BAD the bone. No telling what they'll do with the 3S lipo.

More goodies showed up but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.

Just made a quick run on the Lipo.....WOW!!! The power is just silly, it will flip on it's lid very very easy and it's plenty fast! I have a bad feeling I will eat through tires faster than I can afford to buy them!

Charlie, your in for a whole new experience LOL

I got a good run in just before dark. It's geared 20/88, and according to the gps it does 40mph with the lipo packs on the top end. After a long run the motor was 135 degrees, the esc was 101, the battery was 96 so I have a little room to go up on the gearing if needed. I'll probably have to program the throttle for a softer start to keep the front end down.

That's sweet, I might have to get a few electrics again, unfortunately the only ones I have right now, don't run, and are radio shack, so they aren't very fast.

What happens when you add lipo to it

Here is a quick video. My 8 year old is running the camera so it's a little out of focus LOL

Man that runs sweet. Love the vid. Thinking of getting an electric but dont know if I can get use to not hearing that nitro sound. Is the cost about the same, electric vs nitro?

Is the cost about the same, electric vs nitro?

It depends on what you run. The charger and two lipo batteries pictured above cost close to $300.00, the brushless was $130.00, then add the rc, radio gear and servo.

It is strange seeing something pretty fast that is quite.

Electric is like nitro in this sense. With nitro, you can buy a nice big block to bash with off-road for 100 bucks brand new. Or you can spend 600 or more on a high end engine to race with. Electric is the same way. I've got a Rustler that's a lot of fun, and I only hvea bout 200 in it with all the hop ups. But then I have my Associated T4 and its got more than that just in the battery setup, then add in the brushless system, receiver, etc... I would say all in all though, if you have a budget to stick with, electric might be the way to go.

smaxxin that is an awsome vid.man that thing moves.it reminded me of your vid with the aftershock...wheelies on command.
