Well I just finished cutting the crank on the engine to the same length as my old Pro.15 so it will fit in my Maxx. Cutting the crank wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I just cut it long then used a grinding bit to finish the job. Anyways, I am looking at my instructions for the OS engine and it mentions setting the HSN at 2 turns then adjusting it 30 degrees for each tank of fuel that I run. It says that I should do this for at least 5 tanks of fuel. Sounds easy enough. However it does not make any mention of adjusting the LSN for the break-in. Am I to assume that means I don't need to adjust it at all? Right now the LSN is slightly indented from the housing.

Usually, you do not need to adjust the settings on the LSN during the break in process. In fact, most manuals that come with new engines tell you not to mess with it.

Once you have gotten through the break in process, tweak/tune the engine as you need for the performance you want. That may require some LSN tuning, but then again it may not.

I have a Fantom engine, that I have never had to adjust the LSN on and have run quite a bit of fuel through it. My new Hyper 8 port on my Savage, has three needles (HSN, LSN, and a mid range); the only one I have had to mess with is the HSN. The other two seem to be set right where I need them.

So what am I saying? Break in the engine. Then tune away using whichever needles will give you the performance you need. The HSN will be the one you mess with the most.

Thanks for the info Sky. I managed to get the 3 tanks of fuel thru the new engine today before I was called into work. Now it looks like the last tank and some final adjusting will have to wait until Thursday afternoon.

I was just about to give up on the engine when I decided to give it one more tug and it started up. My arm is killing me right now. Damn pull starters.

My LHS has an Ez-Start adatper for the OS engine for 30 bucks. Seems kinda tempting. I guess I will have to wait and see how she starts up on Thursday.
