It's been over a year since the last time I have owned a nitro rc and I have gotten the bug for it again! I picked up an old Savage 25 for cheap, I was expecting to do a full rebuild but besides being dirty it seems to be in pretty good shape. A full tear down to clean and inspect everything will start this weekend. It came rtr with an Airtronics MX3 rx/tx, and the engine is a Wasp .28, I already popped the top on the engine and I was very surprised to find it still had a nice tight pop even with the head off...I started engine shopping before it got here but I might just get luck with this engine.

Have fun! I like the suspension on that rig. Looks mean. I ordered an HPI Savage and tuned pipe once, probably the day after the warehouse had no-more...done..after B.O. for a week got an e-mail order is canceled.

Good to see you back SMaxxin, I was out of the hobby for 2 years or so and just picked up a Savage X SS. Your truck looks pretty nice, I used to have a Wasp .28 back in the day, liked that engine.

I started going through it last night, the only problem I found were that both diff cups were getting bad. The guy I bought it from included the parts to convert both diffs to 4 spider diffs so today I went to a hobby shop to pick up a fresh gallon of fuel and diff cups. One shop didn't carry any HPI parts and the other one only had the plastic cups (this is why online shopping rules) so I'll run the plastic cups for now. I got a nice surprise when I opened the rx box...It has an ofna fail safe and an Orion 6v hump pack so it will be up and running sooner than I thought. More pics soon!

Your nitro addiction can be cured. Take one MERV and call us in the morning.

you'll be back. I went from nitro to electric to nitro and now back to electric.

Nitro is a blast but once you start adding up the cost of fuel, clutch shoes, brake pads and glow plugs, it starts to lose its appeal. It just takes too much support equipment for me to ever really consider running it again. I also can't run it in the neighborhood so that pretty much kills it right there.

The cost is not really an issue, brushless/lipo electrics have cost me more in parts than any nitro I have ever owned...even the maxx trucks! I mainly wanted this to have something to jump and for me the Savage is one of the best at it!

no way. someone drives like a grandma then. I spent soo much on my nitro's it makes my stomach turn. Granted most was in ups but it was still cash outta my pocket. I sold the maxx after i hit 1K and it still couldn't go one session on flat ground without breaking. I would say both savages after that topped 1500 each. Heck i dropped 1K on that stupid savage to get it ready to bash at beasons.

Ahh the single days. lol

If you have a place to run and store them then do what tickles your pickle. I just want to be able to run my stuff when i travel and i can't be haulin all that stuff around.

no way. someone drives like a grandma then..

Just the opposite.....With all of the brushless rc's I have had I have only been able to make a handfull of runs when the battery went dead before the truck broke.

wow, my experience has been the exact opposite. i almost always get tired of running before my battery dies.

that truck was a blast. but still. i had to bring fuel, glow plugs, ignitor. Then when i was done i had to pop the glow plug and put aro in it. Then watch the stinger for any dripping nitro.

BLEH, fun but not for me.

I just stated it up....Man I missed that sound!!! I guessed at the needle settings and I was close enough to get it going but I need to make some linkage adjustments and try again. I drove it for a couple of minutes and this engine seems to have pretty good power, it makes the front end fell pretty light LOL.

I ran it again yesterday, temp started rising and didn't stop until I shut it down...Found an air leak on the back plate so I sealed everything up last night and I'm still having trouble...anybody want to buy a used wasp .28 LOL
