https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzALw71 is this a genuine vacuum pump or doe sit just pump water? Can it withstand pressure? Can it be used with gases instead of liquids?

If not, these are the criteria for a small device I need for a small water electrolysis project. Anyone suggest anything else please?

It does say it works with gasses, but it's better for liquids. No idea how much pressure it has. It just gives the volume it moves of water per minute. I would ask the seller.

Thanks, I just realised there's a piston mechanism electrically powered version, which for sure will create a vacuum👍

It will work better under pressure as well.

But does that do liquids?
I don't require it to work with liquids: all I want it to do is create a vacuum when needed to suck the water in the 1st hydrogen tank, and then once it's filled then I want it to pump the hydrogen inside a balloon.
I digress but as for the question itself, I'm quite sure it will work with liquids, but very likely it does not have the power to actually compress liquids.
.99 from Aliexpress, you will get about .99 worth.
I never make big purchases from aliexpress, it's all this type of thing. Aliexpress stuff does not fail on me 95% of the time and even when it does I am way cheaper off than buying from amazon or another dropshipper. Don't get why people are so religeous about this. In this situation I've seen this exact model work perfectly for someone else👍

this is my sketch if interested

Yeah, that should do then, as long as the pump has enough vacuum. Have you calculated how many inches of vacuum you need to pull that amount of liquid up that high? If not, that will tell you the size pump you need to do the job.

Above my pay grade atm.

Ain't nothing but more voltage and or a larger motor. 😁🫠

current setup. Very slow, I only actually see one (hopefully) hydrogen bubble coming up every 10 minutes🥲 guess I'll just leave it on all night.

Edit: I didn't do it as according to the sketcg but aliexpress sadly doesn't ship mini vacuum generators with next day delivery

perhaps the hydrogen production was so small because a lot of it leaked and the negative electric rod was too small in surface area. I'll use this now instead and watch for any difference

Update: this is what it has gotten to. Worked very well but I didn't want to try it more then once because storing hydrogen-oxygen inside glass was not the safest option😅
