Our cheapo reely big1 gearing destroyed after 1 month of use. Turns out to be all plastic. Paid around 400 euros for the car, could have gotten more that money. Fun but not resilient.

Yuck but plastic can give more than steel tearing something else up.

I don’t know, a broken engine would have been more satisfying.

I have ton of metal gears let me know what I can offer you

Sadly not for this one, you just buy the box

Thanks for the offer I may pick you up on that
not a drop that might have helped.
You recon grease would have prevented that? I got a new one on the way. It seems quite complicated to upgrade that to metal. I would want to go into a shop with the gears and find the right ones, not order over the internet. But my rc dealership is weak and told me it’s gonna be hard or impossible when I phoned him. I may pay him a visit anyway.
Yeah, I wouldn't lube plastic gears. Plastic is self lubricating.
Yes, when it’s melting 🤣😂

Honestly I run everything stock or dry for a battery with no wide open throttle. Then I will lube them up after that. I’ve found I’d rather break things in off the rip then grease them and listen to the lash for 4 months.

Got it all greased up and working.

That is what I could find. Lithium and petrol free.
Do you recon I could put that grease in the differentials? They are metal gears in plastic casing. It would be a lot cheaper.

I would think so, but grease and diff fluid are two different things. Grease will stay where it sticks, whereas diff fluid will pool in the lowest area, no matter how thick it is. So when the gears fling grease out of the way of movement, it won't flow back as easily. Which is precisely why grease is used in unsealed enclosures as opposed to oils.

Just watched a video on it, grease doesn’t sound like such a good idea.

It really isn't ideal. You need diff fluid because it's sticky and makes the diff work properly. Grease is slippery, not sticky.
