Anyone help me with a tutorial on gearing? I just put a 2 speed in my HPI RS4 3. I know I can adjust shift points, but I'm trying to get info on what the different gear combinations mean in terms of acceleration and top end speed. Also would like to know if I can purchase different gear sets that may perform better.

Always different gearing possibilities. You can get clutchbell gears. Not sure on the RS4 3, but mine, I can just unscrew my second gear on the clutchbell. Same with the first gear clutch bell. If you do that, you'll have to get the corresponding gear so that the mesh is correct. I know that my friend's HPI RS4 has something like a 41/37with like an 18/22 or something like that. Can't remember off the top of my head, but that has some tremendous top end speed. Lost a bit on the take off speed though.

Thanks MR, check with your friend about the Spur gear, I think the RS4 3 is limited to either a 47/43 combo OR a 45/41 combo. I would like to know if I could fit some large Spur gears on. I am changing the pinions from 18/22 to 17/23 which will improve accel slightly, but should take the top end up a bit too.
