well, I got my Savage back together and put a 49t spur on the tranny. I planned on running my picco 26 with a mugen 3 shoe clutch and a 17t bell. Most of that plan came together. Eventually I had to settle on running an Ofna 15t bell since the mugen flywheel was too big to fit the HPI 17t bell without the FW rubbing the TVP.

Off to the track I went today and let me tell you, the 15/49 combo is nuts. I was running an RRP 52 steel spur with a 16t bell before and it would wheelie, but only when it was tweaked for performance. The 15/49 gear ratio is 3.27:1 while the 16/52 ratio is 3.25:1, or nearly the same ratio. it still had about the same top speed, but I was having a hard time keeping the front end down. I was running Maxx Mulcher tires on watered track dirt and it would wheelie violently both forward and in reverse. One dude came over to flip my truck back over and asked "WTF mill is that?" I said an Ofna Picco 26, he just had a stunned look on his face.

With that kind of torque, I really have to get my 4 shoe on with the 17t HPI bell. I talked to my buddy about it and he indicated that the engine is utilizing a different RPM for the same truck speed, and thus is more "optimized". To tell the truth, I was getting a little irritated at my Savage for it's newfound penchant for wheelies. Alot of the guys thought it was a trip though.

I did forget to mention one thing. On one high speed run I misjudged my line and ended up hammering the right front suspension arm against the end of a retaining board at the track. This was all that it did to the Savage:

The savage is tough.

I am running a Wasp .26 with about 7 tanks of 30% ran through it and a 18/49 combo. It wheelies enough for me to have to keep an eye out so that i dont flip it (cooling head already all scrached up). But the Top end is rediculas(sp?) it seems like it just keeps accelerating untill I'm to scared to keep driving it that fast. I dont know how fast it is, but i have chased down some 1:1 who have dared driving down my street.I showed it to my family at my G-ma's B-day party, and my aunt freaked out and yelled at me saying "you could really hurt someone with that thing". Trust me people they are not kidding when they say these engines are crazy fast.

oh yea one more thing I'm running big joes 40's so that give me a little taller gear ratio than stock.
