gear ratio?

It seems that a key feature to get a truggy right is the gear ratio of clutch bell to center diff....whats a good ratio, (please say 12 t clutch bell so i dont have to get a new one!) and what would happen if you had your truggy all set up, MT tires, wheel extenders, everything, but you just had the stock 12t cb, and the stock center diff from a buggy?

depends on the gear ratio of the front / rear diffs......if they are a standard buggy diff then at least 57/58 on the center spur...that would give it some serious low end grunt....

I know the front and rear are spider 8 diff's....not sure about the center it hasent gotten here yet....i bought a junker truggy that I'm doing as a project....

the center ratio will only be the spur / CB ratio...you just need to make sure the front/rear have the same ratio in ALL 4WD vehicles......I'm pretty sure the 8 spider set s have the 3.85:1 or whatever the stock ratio is (that might be a t-maxx diff ratio I used there)........if you can't get a larger spur gear then you can replace the pinion gears in the front / rear diffs to drop the ratio as well.....I never bothereed w/ figuring the whole final drive ratio, I just used the old try and retry method on mine until I found what worked....doin gthe diff pinions will drop your final ratio alot more than a CB/spur combo will as well
