Gear Ranges

I was curious about the gear selections. I'm assuming the wide ratio is for speed and close ratio is for torque? I'm thinking about upgrading to center diff as well as changing gear combo. I need some input on which on is which.

as far as i know the wide ratio is already in the tranny from traxxas, if anyone knows if thats true or not true PLEEZE correct me, and it all depends on what ur doing with it, bashing, racing, pulling,ect that will determine what type of gear selection you will want

According to the exploded tranny view from traxxas thats what it says. Seems to be wide ratio is standard. I plan on racing with it at the local track.

personally i wouldnt mess with the gears inside the tranny at first, i would change the clutchbell and spur gear and see how that goes before i go tearing into the tranny, depending on what you want speed or torque, if you want as much speed as possible, go with a 17t CB and a 36t SG and that will get you more top speed.
the easiest way i can explain it is
Top speed=Big Clutchbell and small Spur Gear
Torque=Small Clutchbell and Big Spur Gear
