ready to break in my lrp xl i guess. gassed it up the other day , then decided i didnt like the slipper clutch/bell gear mesh. just dont feel right . rolls free but rattles a bit. 52t steel mated to a 16t hardened bell (stock options i do believe) i can't get the motor to adjust anymore towards frame to loosen the mesh up, only need a small adjustment. looked in X and Xl manuals and the motor mount has the same part #hpi86060.what should i do? i am not real familiar with steel spur. is this normal

Yes its normal for a steel setup to rattle because the spur gear is not perfectly round and neither is the shaft it goes on.

stay with plastic, cheaper to replace and if mesh is set right can typically last just as long.

My savage xl rolls freely forward without any sound but when you roll it backwards, there is some resistance and you hear the gears chattering. I pulled it apart several times trying to find anything wrong and I can't find anything wrong with it. Everything appears to be in correct. It has metal gears as well. I think it's just the nature of having metal gears.

rolling mine backwards makes that same sound too and I do not have metal gearing. Could be the slipper allowing the drivetrain to move in oppostie direction. Just a thought I could be wrong.

after the hour i spent breaking the truck in, it all seemd to clear itself up. guess they just needed to get on the same wavelength
