Hey everyone! I'm brand new to the hobby, but ever since I was a kid I wanted a nitro car/truck. Now 16 years later at 27 I have my .25 savage.

My question is, when assembling, one of the first couple steps is to lube the gears. How much lube do I need to be safe? I can still hear the gears moving alittle. The instructions don't really say anything about it. Any advice? Also, any other advice in the building process that I should know that the instructions dont' say? Thanks everyone and its good be here! -Jared

Well is you have a savage 25 none. If you have a savage ss (the kit) I lubed mine intill all the gears were covered. So i guess add a little then spin the gears if now is needed apply more.

Yes, I have the SS, forgot to mention that. I just wasn't sure whether or not to use that whole tube or what. Thanks for the info. I'm a complete newbie as you might notice.

Oh and if you or anyone else can answer this...What else do I need to get up and running? Do I need to buy the servos? glowplugs?

I know I need the radio of course and some fuel and a glow starter. Just curious. Bear with me!!!! :bling:

Its ok we where all in your shoes at one time. Like you said you do need a radio Most of the time the radio comes with 2 servos a lot of the time they are 50oz servos. You can use one of those for your gas. Your steering is going to need more. At least 80oz you can pick up one for about 30 to 50$. If you go any lower you turning will be bad. For break in you should have about 2 glow plugs the more the better. Also you might want to think about getting the roto start. It will make your car turn over faster... But it does have a downfall it breaks the one-way bearing if used too much. Umm as for the lube I would use have of it in the front and half in back. I also have a savage SS. I am sort of happy do hear from one of the few people who have one, Ummm when assembling Look out for Bag E That is where I made all of my mistakes. On step 32 don’t tighten those 2 screws down all the way Make sure it can more freely. That is all the tips I think you will need

Also you will need 12 AA batties

Thanks for the tips Doug. I'll be starting evening number 2 of building in about a half hour. How do you like your SS Savage?

Well within the first 2days i had it together. it was my first kit and nitro car. the first week with it was hell. My backplate came off had to send my motor back to get a new one. Brakes broke I upgraded my brakes many times. To this day i still dont have brakes. lol umm other then that is it a good truck. I have abused mine many times and it still works great
