Hi all
I hope someone can help i have just brought a second hand savage x 4.6 and am having a few problems my clutch bell has quite alot of play and the spur is worn but workable for the minute my problem is when i drove it it was stalling when i pulled the throttle i had to ease it on slow to get it going and then all of a sudden it wouldn't move if i lifted it off the floor the wheels would turn but they wouldn't when it was on the floor again.
any idea's? please help
oh i've taken the top off the gearbox and there are metal shards like dust in there but all gears seem to be o.k with no missing teeth ect.

Well unfortunately I can tell you from experience that you have stripped teeth. That is the metal dust that you see. You may also want to check your clutch bell bearings as they might be fried too. As far as your truck not moving on throttle, you need to tighten down your slipper spring (the spring on the end of the flywheel shaft). If you decide to take take it apart check the slipper pad (orange-ish red circular pad). If it is not slightly tacky but instead shiny of a slight glaze to it, then it needs to be replaced. Hope that helped.

Drive it like you stole it!:D

yea man that sounds like teeth stripped. just to be on the safe side, you should replace the tranny gears and spur gear and slipper pad and clutch bell bearings. those things shouldn't be that expensive. should be less than $50...good luck buddy

Thanks for that guys funny you should mention above items i found a load of those parts cheap which i was going to replace just to be on the safe side,
i checked the slipper whilst giving it a clean and it's none existent just a black mess
you,ve been very helpful chears.
STILL LOVE THE TRUCK THOUGH
