hey i heard that if you switch from 20% to 30% that its a night and dsay difference and speed and does it hurt your engine, because on the traxxas dvd the guy said the gas % you break your truck in with you should stay with is that true or is he just talkin out of his a$$

I've never had a problem switching between percentages. I'll generally run 30 - 40% and switch back between the two whenever I can't get 40%. I have been even known to buy 20% from time to time if that's the highest available for me to use.

TW, that is what they say "to use the same % that you break it in with". I haven't really come across a reason as to why you shouldn't switch Nitro %. I think that it is all just a marketing ploy by Traxxas. They don't make 30% fuel, so they can't get your $$$.:sniper:

But if anyone knows of a real reason as to why you shouldn't change your Nitro %, I would really like to know too.

As EP has already stated, he has never had a problem with switching %. I plan on running Trinity 30% as soon as I'm finished with this Top Fuel.

Later...

Technically there isn't any reason that changing nitro % will harm your engine.

One thing to keep in mind is the tuning will need to be adjusted.

ok but the higher the % the faster it will go and i have never seen 40% where do you get that at.

yea i got blue thunder but its only 20% is that good fuel they said it was

and switch from 20% to 40% that will tear your engine up wouldnt it

Holy crap. i run mine w/ 20%, and never seen 30 or 40 in my life. Would it gain on top speed or would it just accel like a shitload. and i dont think that 65% would blow up your engine, just you will have to tune.

When you change fuel percentages, you should take at least a tank to allow the engine to get used to the new burn rates and all that scientific stuff. The bottom line is that a change in fuel percentage will require a change in your tuning.

You do not need a full break in when you change fuel percentages, but a little getting used to the new fuel time for the engine is a good idea and will let the engine live longer.

When you first get an engine the tell you to heat cycle it. Every time you change the nitro % up wards you need to heat cycle the engine.

This post was put up in 2004! Def check your dates when posting. (i have answered my share of WAY outdated posts!)
