Yes it is a great set up for a cheaper 2.4 system. I has a lot of adjustments...ABS ect. From personal experience with the control (My back-up for a 3PKS) is the fail-safe on it is garbage. Never could get it to work correctly or reliably. Just a warning there. So an external fail-safe would still be advisable. As far as range I have never ran one out of range....ran until I could barely see it....and still good. Never glitched on me either. I would say a good set up for a basic 2.4 radio.

I've found that you have to hold the button for about 3 seconds and then release the button before the lettting go on the trigger setting you want for it to "stick"... and I always test it once set by turning off the radio. Between that and a throttle return spring you'll completely covered.

I've been extremely happy with mine. I've got 3PM receivers in 4 vehicles now and have never had an issue and it has more than enough customizations for my needs. The range is farther than I can see.

While the Spektrums have many fans, I've also heard that they can be hit or miss. Sunday I was out at the track and one of the guys there had a big issue when his Spektrum glitched out on him. YMMV.

I see a lot of people walking out of the LHS with the spectrum gear, however I have heard the same as amoeba that some people have had a heck of a time getting them to work. I haven't heard anything one way or the other about the futaba.
Personally I like the idea of the telemetry that the spectrum offers(trucks need wire extensions), however the price that they want for them is a little inflated IMO.
