I've read a lot of good stuff about this rig and have been really satisfied with the Furitek ESC/motor I have installed in my AX24.
Found a $24 off sale with free shipping from Aliexpress and decided to get one-$175 delivered.
Very impressed! Nice layout, good motor/esc, oil shocks with lots of mounting options and great low speed crawl.
Not one to leave anything stock, I added a few things and did some mods to make it better.
First off was to add 4WS with controller, bearing kit and a different TX/RX.
FuritekUSA front axle assy $40 (comes with everything- servo, steering gear etc.)
Meus 4WS controller $14
DumboRC X6PM-350 TX/RX $35
Bearing kit $20
I used channel 6 to control the steering mode, the switch is right next to my thumb on the TX- makes it easy to switch modes.
Moved the battery and electronics as far forward as possible, the battery is held in with a big O ring. Also added a limit strap on the front. Moved the shocks to a better angle and filled them with 30wt.
Future mods include steel driveshafts, overdrive front gears and high clearance links.
I really like the color- nice metallic green. I removed the stickers, cut off the lights and left off the bumper and mirrors. Added some 1.3" deep dish Injora wheels in green to complement the body color.
I really hate body clips so I rearranged the rear mount to allow the body to tilt up for battery access with the clips semi-permanently installed. The front is oriented on the original body posts and held down with Velcro. Makes it a lot easier to get at the chassis!
I have some decals on the way to set it off and will be adding headlights, taillights, interior detail and some stuff to put in the cargo bed.
Really digging this rig! Furitek and Hobby Plus have really raised the bar.
