To me the fuel seemed to burn nice.. it idled right, ran nice.. just over all i should have spent more time than just leaning out the HSN only once and driving. Usually i too have screw driver in my right hand while i steer and i pull it up constantly making my adjustments untill i have perfect trail of smoke. But today i didnt do that, I mean really it behaved the same way as it did with trinity. Not to mention it basically switched from a fuel that was 12% oil to suddenly 16% witch would really make it a change for the truck. But either way can't afford gas at all since I'm so low on funds. Itll just have to run on it, and I'm not really worried about it because i didnt see any bad running just didnt spend time in tuning. Also Even if it was bad fuel it would be for good reason.. its 2 years old, and its still letting me drive my truck around with out any loss in performance.. that alone in my opinion gives traxxas fuel +1 in my book.

I'm just ragging on you a bit, don't mind me.

If it works for you and your satisfied all is good, I will say that Traxxas fuel in a Savage X engine is not recommended.

What temps do you run your truck at?

Technically there is not specific fuel HPI recommends ... they just say typically use 20/30% fuel with at least a 12% oil content.

But back to my original question, what exactly is it that makes everyone hate this fuel ? I mean sure I've only had traxxas engines in past vehicles and this is my first HPI but even it runs fine with the fuel .. I'm just wondering why I'm having a good experience and others are having bad.
 
I'm not sure why but thats how i felt about trinity fuel... compared today when i was driving for the first time with trx in the savage i was actually relieved because it wasn't as messy as the trinity. its weird cuz the trinity has less oil content compared to trx but after its burned its much much more oily.

I'm still interested in other fuels its just not affordable for my budget at the moment. so far in the years I've tried blue thunder witch i didnt like at all, trx, trinity, and another brand i can't think of the name right now but in the end i always went back to traxxas.

I'm not sure why I'm not having any of the same issues and everyone else. Or perhaps I'm so used to this fuel and the way it runs that I've yet to test how much better another fuel will perform.

Chime back in when you have a chance to run, Byrons or Strike Team 30% fuels, the X should see a nice improvement in performance.
 
Hpi says "at least 12% oil". You're using 16% oil. At 6000ft that's gonna make for some crappy tuning. Most engines, especially big blocks, can handle as low as 8% or 9% oil.

If I lived a mile up from sea level I'd want every advantage possible. That means using a fuel with less oil.
 
I was using 12%, but i ran out of my trinity and can't afford new fuel. so I'm kind of forced to use the trx. So either way whether i want to change fuel or not. i can't.
