i have been running traxxas 20% fuel in my maxx for about 3 months will it hurt to start running 15% the only reason I'm asking is becouse i can get 15% cheaper and closer to where i live

It shouldnt hurt anything, you may have to tune your engine some.

You'll be ok. Like mentioned in the above post, you'll have to re-tune the engine.

you will benefit from running your engine in on the new fuel just for a couple of tanks to get your engine familiar with the new fuel. You might also notice some higher temps and also a slight drop in power b/c there is a higher oil content IMO i would say stick with 20%

goin faster runnin cooler sound good to me:yes:

you can always go lower than what you broke the engine in with, but never higher.

you can change fuels as you like higher or lower percent
as long as you RErun the engine in on the new fuel

I heard a rumor today about switching fuel. I was told than anytime you change a brand, you should let the first tank idle through on a rich setting. Somewhat like a break in.
Anyone else heard this?

What are you guys talking about? You only break-in a engine once.Break-in is only because of the tolerances between the piston/sleeve and crank/rod?When you swith fuel, you just need to retune your carb.

Ahhhh...the great debate once again makes the rounds. Time for me to use the search engine to dig up this really good article that someone posted on the topic of switching fuels...gimme a second or two.

Here it is...took a little longer than a second to find, but it is well worth the wait. Originally posted during a similar debate about a year ago by FlyingRazorback, this article will answer a lot of questions about fuels and these little powerhouses we play with:

id say stick with 20 to be safe but maybe a diffrent brand i had traxxas 20 but yesterday borrowed a tank of o donell 20 from a friend and motor ran alot better temp was lowest ever when i was using traxxas it got so hot it would die out and not start for awhile but it ran perfect with o donell 20

as for switching %'s I've asked at both local hobby shops here and was told it is not good and never to do it

Then you need to go back to your LHSs and educate them. There is nothing bad with respect to changing fuel brands or nitro content. Simply stated, you need to retune the engine and give it a bit of adjustment time prior to going full blast.

Note, if your LHS are HobbyTown USA style...I would not put a ton of faith in their information.

No KIDDING! HobbyTown in Aurora, IL has a guy that contradicts himself ALL THE TIME. If you're ever there, pay no attention to the guy named Parker.

Customer: "What can I do about this problem?"
Local hobbie shop guy: "I can run a cash register."
Customer: "You all get your parts from Horizon anyway."
Local hobbie shop guy: "But you don't have to pay shipping"
Customer: "I can make more money on intrest in my savings account by the time you get it off BACK ORDER!"

Unless you know what you need, and it is on the shelf, forget the LHS

Not all LHS's are ass as illustrated above. Their's some great LHS's in my parts with awesome knowledge, minimum bs opinions are great service and prices. THis doesn't seem to be the case for many people though.

As for the subject @ hand. Unless your saving allot of money I'd definitley run 20%.
