my pump has gone on my savage big fuel tank can i fix it or do i need a new tank

Pump as in primer pump? If that's the case go with the primerless tank that comes with the Savage25. Rear pickup, less prone to the midtank leaning.

lol ye thats the 1 but the Q? was can i fix the pump :egad:

Typically when the primer goes, it is done and there is no fixing it. The problem is that they are molded into the tank casing and to repair it usually means removal. To remove it you have to destroy the tank...or at least poke a really big hole in it.

If your preference is to use the primer style tanks, then get a replacement for the one you have. If you are open to suggestions, I (like Diver) recommend ditching the primer tank and getting the new tank from HPI (the primer-less one). It has a few advantages that Diver already mentioned.

If your engine is a pull start, plug the exhaust pipe end with your finger and give enough pulls to see fuel moving to the carb. Once you have fuel to the carb, a couple of more pulls and you should be primed.

If your engine is run with a rotostart or other electronic starting gizmo, same thing. Only be certain not to run the starter for too long as you can easily flood the engine.

Plug the stinger and pull the cord (or run the rotostart), then go. Simple as that.

(beavis voice) huh huh, huh huh "poke a really big hole in it" huh huh, huh

i picked up the primerless tank the day it came in the shop. i also picked up an OFNA fuel filter that has a primer pump built into it. it works great. new tank is only $12

I dont have a primer on my tank. I take my squeeze bottle and squeez some air out, then remove the fuel line from the carb and use the bottle to suck fuel up through the fuel line and pinch it off and reinstall on the carb.

Sounds a lot more complicated that it really is. Squeeze and suck (with the bottle you pervs) and put the line back on the carb with fuel.

The fuel line is the exact same size as the ID (inside diameter) of my sqeeeze bottle tube!

Work great, even with my inline fuel filter.

SavageHooligan - now thats an idea I never heard of, rather interesting to say the least. I'm going to have to give it a shot, at least once.

you should look into the ofna tank mod.
Why you may ask?
-Primerless
-Can be mounted securly
-No Air leaks

I completed it by using a tank guards w/ minor mill work. Please see pictures.
