I'm new to the world of RC trucks.
Recently bought a Traxxas Revo 3.3, and running the "suggested" 20% Traxxas Top Fuel.
Question: What is an average price for a gallon of this fuel? I paid $34 + tax (about $38) at a local RC store. Is this about right? I'm not seeing it offered by the gallon on the internet.
I'd just as soon give the local RC store the business, as long as I'm not paying too much.

What's everyone else running and paying?

Thanks

That sounds about right for a gallon of fuel.

I pay $24 a gallon for Byron's 25% at my LHS here in Raleigh, NC, and $25 a gallon for O'Donnell 20%

I would not run my weedeater on the crap. Buy some O'Donnell's, Sidewinder, Trinity MHP or Byron's. All are better fuels at better prices.

I AM SERIOUSLY GETTING RIPPED OFF! I paid $44 with tax for a gallon of Byron's 20%. I am never going to go to that hobby shop again.

Don't just avoid them, tell the OWNER that he ripped you off, BIG TIME, and you refuse to do any more business with them.

My LHS Charges $33 less tax for a gallon of 20% and $15 per quart.I know he has rent to pay and kids to feed but dam!...I've tried the Traxxas 20% and Trinity 20% and I like the Trinity over the Traxxas hands down...........Basically it all depends where you live and the frequency of customers your lhs sees is what determines on the amount you're gonna pay...I now buy my nitro fuel online and in bulk.I get 4 gallons of trinity 20% for 87.99 and with shipping/hazmat fees it comes out to 119.00........The money and time I save buying in bulk is what I use for the other essentials like clutch pads, bells, driveshafts etc...

At least this was not my LHS. My first nitro was comming in a day and I was out of town working and came across this hobby shop. I didn't have a way to compare prices. Stupid nitro newbie, should have priced nitro before I bought from this place. At least I now know what I should expect to pay. If I get back around that area again, I AM going to stop there.

No savings there for me. My LHS say he buys 20-30 cases at a time to keep his price competitive and it $27-$30 a gallon for Byron's.

Its almost worth the drive to baton rouge to pick up a few gal..... like $24 here for byrons and Losi nitrotane. I'd never run anything but losi.... jmo.

All i ever use is traxxas. GrudgE from here at this forum gave me like 3/4 gal of trinity mph but I am scared to use it because my other friend bought a gal of trinity mhp and it smoked his mill ok his falt. Then a nother friend used some of this same fuel and after about one tank he could not start his mill again. So we all think that fuel he had was bad could this be. Anyway that fuel ended up with GrudgE and he mixed the (bad) 20% with what he had left of his 30%. Should I be scared of this fuel I dont know what to do with it?
:\

Ps......The guy who used this fuel second and could not start his mill again is not a rc newbie he has about ten years in this hobby. He says that fuel must of did something to his carb. Mill would not pull fuel.

I can tell you where not to go in Houma to get fuel!
Which place in BR? I might be getting that way for work Sat, they pay for gas to get there!!!

The losi is on the way to BR in springfield, and the byrons is at hobbytown and hobbytown usa in baton rouge.

Thanks for all the comments. Seems the price I'm paying is about right. My LHS does carry a cheaper brand, but I don't recall what it was. I finally got my Revo broke in, and running fairly well. Maybe after I get through this gallon of Top Fuel, I'll try the less expensive brand.

thanks again,

I was told by traxxas that if you dont use their fuel, then they wont warranty it..... Something about the dye in the fuel dying the inside of the block........

Actually Traxxas wants you to use their fuel due to the high oli content. It's what they think is the proper amount of lube for their cheap mill. They designed a great little engine, they just used cheap materials to build it.

isnt buying fuel in bulk stupid? i thought that fuel goes bad after a little while if it doesn't get used rite away.
