RC Driving Style

So i started watching my driving style after diesel hit 4.80 a gallon. I was averaging around 18mpg on a basically stock truck. Its an 07 chevy crewcab/longbed with the 6.6 duramax mated to a 6 speed allison. Only thing its got is a 65hp/150ft lb tune and a muffler delete.(total power is 430hp/800 ft-lbs) I went from cruising at 75 to cruising at 65 and i never go over 2K rpm anymore. (unless there is a mustang at the redlight thats asking to get spanked)
I am averaging 21.7 mpg now and i think i may pull over 22mpg this tank. I JUST hit 593 miles on this tank and i have 1/4 tank left.

I am a chevy man too. Wow thats pretty descent gain considering thats only your driving attitude. Is it a standard? I try to gear up on standards to conserve fuel.
 
nah, its an auto.

I used to switch between an 85 and 120hp tune as well. that really sucked down the fuel. but an extra 120 hp and 240 ft lbs of torque makes a big truck really really fun to drive.
 
yeah my car gets run pretty hard too. I am actually trying to get the wife to let me hook up some nitrous. probably not but maybe... maybe some wheelie wheels... racing slicks... nah, not on my car.

Modded Pontiac GTP - 14-16mpg city on the required 93 octane.

I have noticed that the driving experience has improved since people went to these slow gas savers. I can pass people so easy now. :LoL:
 
Shoot, about the only good thing from these gas prices is that there are less cars on the road. It went from nuts to peaceful almost overnight.

ha.. that's funny. I havn't noticed. Probably cuz I'm one of the folks not driving so much. I don't take any unnecessary trips to the LHS anymore. I used to go just for the heck of it... you know, to get away from the house. Not anymore though.

I live about 25 - 30 minutes from work and the LHS is down the street from work a couple of miles. I now only go when I'm at work on my lunch break. I can't afford to drive to it from home..lol
 
i got a ranger with a lil lift and 31's...with a 4.0...i get around 22 if i drive granny style lol...but normally around 19 mpg...should have just bought a full size, wouldnt be that much worse for gas...
 
Us in Baton Rouge still have all of the New Orleans Katrina rejects who can't drive for s#%t. Thank god for flashing blue lights. (and a fuel man card).

i was gonna say that. The closest i get to baton rouge is lafayette. Once you hit bluebonnet you might as well put it in park
