just wondering why do nitro rc's usally have the fuel line go around the engine head? dosnt it get hot?

imo re-route it, i try to make my fuel line straighter, and i do not let it get close to the head.

Stock Losi LST's are routed like that. My fuel filter was laying right along side the head. When my engine got up to operating temp it would start to cook the fuel, starving the engine. I re-routed everything thru and behind the rear shock tower and all is well!

+1, I did the same thing with my LST1, mounted my fuel filter on the back of the shock towers. The Revo had a good set up for the fuel line and was kept away from the engine.

they also make little slip on heatshields.

Yup, that slip-on stuff is sold by Traxxas. I cannot recall the part number off hand, but it is common on the T-Maxx's.

Yeah I had that problem with my Schumacher Rascal just move it around a bit away from the engine you also make sure the fuel lines don't interfere with the throttle linkage and there aren't any kinks.
