This wont necessarily be with just Savage Engines, it will be with most engines I think. I recently bought a Savage 3.5 off eBay. It all seemed good apart from I had to replace a diff and it is leaking old, green fuel from the engine. I have been told that the leaking is due to its age, is this true? if yes, how can I stop it?

I don't know about developin leaks when they get old but I don't think that's true at all. All nitro motors should be airtight, and also need some after run maintenance. You shouldn't leave fuel in the motor as nitro attracts moisture which will cause rusting in the motor. Any time you run it you wanna store it with piston at BDC and normally put after run oil in it if its gonna sit at all. If you search on here there's multiple links on checking for air leaks as well as how to seal the motor. Where's the green fluid coming out from and has the truck been started at all to verify she runs?

It leaks when it is running. I have only just purchased it, I think the bloke who owned this before me did not take much care. The fluid is all of the pull start and appears to be getting through there, so when i pull the pull-cord green fluid gets all over the side of the tank. I may upload some images of it for you guys to see what i mean

How does it run? If I accidentally run mine too rich, fuel leaks out from between the block and cooling head. But it has to be way rich. Sounds like in your case, its leaking around the backplate?
