i bought a patriot rc fuel filter. Do these actually work or are they just a hassel

Absolutely, fuel filters are very much worth it. All it takes it a little piece of dirt or debris to enter our engines and it could be ruined. Very much worth spending the $4-5.

alot of guys say dont use them cause of airleaks,but i use them in all my rigs and never had a problem and you should see the dirt i clean out of them

I wouldn't run without one! My fuel filter of choice is the Dynamite Big Daddy fuel filter.

Fuel filters are a must.

I used to use the Kyosho large filters in my nitro days.

In addition to the clunk in the fuel tank on my gassers, I also use an in-line Crap Trap filter.
