I know a lot of people put fuel filters in their trucks, and I'm sure it's a good idea, but I was reading through the manual, and it says on page 17 that they have built in sintered bronze fuel filters. I guess my question is 1) are they any good, and 2) do you recommend putting in an after market filter anyway?

That's not a bad Idea, but I have like 10" of line on my rig for that purpose

If a tank already has a sintered bronze filter in it I just use a line to the engine. Fuel filters are a potential problem IMO.

glad you posted this quetion as i too had the same question,
seems to be alot of mixed opinions on filter no filter
and how long the fuel line to carb should be..

The line I have is the one that came on it stock from Traxxas. I figure if that's the way it came, it can't be bad

It's not so much a question of filter or no filter, it's more of a question of in-line filter or no in-line filter. IMO if it has one in the tank then that's good enough by itself. Some guys like to add one in the line also, but not me.

I put one on all my nitro rigs, whether or not it has one in the tank. I feel it's better to spend 6-8 bucks on a filter than several hundred for a new mill. Plus it does add run time when you are on your lid. I really like the Big Daddy filters, and I have never had a problem with one.

If the tank has it...I say good to go. If not I add an inline for safety. I clogged up a jet years ago on an old .15 Pro T-Maxx carb with grass crud because of no filter. Oops... it was a hard slide on the top with no lid and got it just right to pop the cap and get some crud in there. Also broke a fin off the cooling head. Truck was running funny and I noticed there was something in the fuel line.....but TOO LATE. All good and lesson learned!

I see what you're saying NCN, and I think I'm going to put one on in the near future. Can you find Big Daddys on ebay? Or would it be better from like tower hobbies?

The sintered bronze is great the inline is more convivent to clean, as long as your carefull refuling and dont get a bunch of crap in your tank youll be good ethier way.:p:
