Can anyone clear this up: to use or not to use a fuel filter?

I just got a new T-Maxx 2.5 and went through the set-up procedure.

I called the Traxxas tech support and asked if I should install a fuel filter.
They said no because it will cause setup problems and the performance will start to vary..

Is this true? Shouild I install a fuel filter, if so which one do you recommend?

Thanks for any assistance!!!

Hey there, can't see why they would say that unless they wanted to cover themselves by making sure you didn't fit an incorrect or restrictive filter etc. Obviously if the filter gets blocked doing the job it's supposed to do, it will impair performance by not flowing correctly. Get a decent filter, designed for the correct size tubing, with a removable mesh or stone, clean it regularly and you'll be fine. Hope this helps. :)

Thank you guys - it seems that little flags go up when you get answers from a tech support guy or your LHS that don't make sense - thank goodness for these forums and all of you folks!
