This is a stupped question but does it matter which way(direction) a fuel filter is put on? If so should the cap you can unscrew to clean it go toward the tank or the motor? thanks

I dotn actually think there is a right or a wrong way.

Depending on the filter. Some are bi-directional and some are uni-directional. The one I have is uni-directional. It will work in reverse but the flow is restricted.

If it is a basket style filter, you want the basket to catch the grime and thus the fuel flow should be into the basket.

Other than that, most are bi-directional and the direction of install doesn't matter so much. Just be careful. Like MM mentioned, some that are touted as bi-directional have restricted flow in one direction. It still flows, but it is just not free-flowing.

Thanks everyone it doesn't have an arrow on it and it is not like the one in the picture. All it has in it is a thin filter on one end. An would it hurt anything to run two fuel filters?

I use the DuBro, and it can go on either way.

Just a quick note: I made a mark on mine to make sure I put it back on correctly after cleaning. Just in case I missed something while cleaning, it won't be sucked right into the engine, but instead be stopped again by the filter.

Tim - running two filters is a trick some guys do to get more 'lid'
time. The more fuel you have in the line, the longer the engine will run if upside down. The extra filter gives you that extra time and of course you'll be very clean with two of them. Some folks even run a filter in their pressure line, just to keep any crap that might work its' way back into the tank.

I was going to write a post for this topic, then I thought I would do a search first and found this thread and it answered all my questions :) thanks!
