I bought a mugen mbx off e-bay and it came without fuel tubing. So I looked at alot of pic's online and in RCnitro to see how they route the tubing. I have yet to find one pic that has a filter on it. What is the advantage/disadvantage of a fuel filter besides keep the eng. clean?
Also, if I do use the filter, does it matter which way the fuel runs threw it? Mine has the screen on one end and a large empty chamber on the other. Should it run into the chamber then threw the filter or the other way around?
Thanx for any help,

Skuffknee

It should run through the chamber then into the filter...X

I would NEVER run any of my RCs without a fuel filter! They are too cheap not to run one. There are no downfalls to running a fuel filter, only positives. No matter how careful you are, when you open the lid to the fuel to refuel the tank tank, tiny little particles of dirt can and will get into your tank, without a filter next stop is the engine.

I don't run a 2nd inline fuel filter. I use to, but I fine putting one on the pressure line is also as important. My tank has a built in tank filter, which your mbx should too(forgot, sold mine last summer:( ) Putting one on both line double the protection from dirty entering your tank or engine. If the filter has a cone screen to pick up all the dirty and dibris, then face the filter so the cone is pointing in the direction the fuel is flowing(Fuel in > {=~>=}Fuel out). You can put it eitherway, but it will be better this way.

Excellent idea, Akina. A little redundancy is never a bad thing.

Skuffknee,

As for a lot of people recommending a fuel filter, that is just habit. Any RC should have one. If the MBX comes with an in-tank fuel filter, then you are probably good to go.

As for not seeing them, the in-tank on the MBX might be why. If you are looking at other RCs and not seeing them, odds are they are there just tucked away. On my T-Maxx, my fuel filter is beneath my fuel tank (out of sight).

Either way, the reason for a fuel filter is to give your engine a longer life. Little bits and pieces of junk in the fuel can kill an engine.

Hobico makes a one way valve that works very well on backpressure lines as well. I used one on my XXX-NT because of the overabundance of fuel that would run back to the tank. That was until I did the pressure fitting mod on the lid itself. Now, the new Losi tanks come with the mod already done.
