Doh ... I own a new buggy, and I've only run one gallon of fuel through the engine. I just bought a fresh gallon, and realized after I'd run two sluggish engines through it, that I accidentally grabbed a 20 % fuel where as my break in tank was a 30%. Should I get a new gallon of 30%, or should I just retune the engine for the new fuel. I am sure this is a bit of a newbie question, but thanks a lot!

Ben

You can just retune for the new fuel and go. I wouldn't waste the fuel.

The real question is do you intend to switch back to the 30%? If so, perhaps you can find a driver near you to trade with. Lay the story down for him/her and they might take the fuel off your hands.

Otherwise expect to tune with each change in nitro percentage you make.

What kind of difference can that make in car performance ( 20 ~ 30 percenet ) ?

Depends on the state of tune of the engine. Or how much tolerance is built into the "cylinder".

Nitro rating for RC is kinda the same as octane rating for autos. Why buy premium pump gas if you car runs just fine on regular?

If you run a higher compression engine, you don't want the Nitro detonating earlier so you buy a higher percentage mix for that purpose.

You can alter the compression by using different shims in the head.

I doubt with an unmodified engine, you won't notice any performance difference between 20-30%.....
