I have a question about my front skid plate as I was taking it off I noticed near the steering servo there was an empty screw hole. but across from that there was a screw hole...(oddly enough w/a screw in it) my question is should there be a screw in this hole or is it open for a reason? and I wonder if this is one of my steering problems. I hope this is somewhat helpful thanks guys.

Theres a lot of screws and screw holes around there. Got any pics? :)

Took a quick look at mine and everything that looks like a screw hole has a screw in it. Dont tell me you broke something else.........maybe when you tried to stuff it into that toolbox that was clearly too small ;)

The screws on the skid plates come in pairs across from each other. So, if you are missing a screw (ie there is an odd number of screws holding the plate to the bottom of the truck) then you need to get a replacement. On the front skid, this can be particularly important depending on which screw is missing. Two of the screws on the front plate hold the steering posts in place. If one of those goes missing, then you will have steering issues.

I'm with Sky on this one, if you are having steering issues, and you are missing a screw in the front skid, I would check to see if you lost one of the screws for the steering post. Good call Sky.

yea i always used to have one or two decide to pop off under a heavy beaten, then i just replaced them with a little longer and thicker screw. Works like a charm.

thanks guys...yea I am gonna have to get that fixed..that might solve some of my tracking problems but I really have to fix the rear tires....toed in to much..can't get them to sit right
if I loosen the top the tire has to much play...oh well. thanks guy later

There should only be three open holes in the Maxx front skid plate. Two are for access to the steering servo mount screws on the chassis plate. One is for access to the front driveline setscrew.
