Hey guys...

Well, yesterday at about 3 AM my friends garage caught on fire. Destroyed all three cars ('92 vette, '04 toyota tundra, and a '98 miata). Also took out the entire garage, the room on top of the garage (which happens to be my friends room), and went down the hall a little ways. Went through the door of the garage into the wash room. Killed 3 iguanas, 2 snakes, and one bird. Everyone in the family is ok, but they are a little shaken up. They happened to be awake at that time watching a movie in the parents room. According to them, there was a big explosion. The ran down stairs and went out the front door (weird because they always use the garage door for everything... if they did though, they would have been dead). Fire dept got the and took about 30 mins to get water flowing. The firemen destroyed everything they had to to get the fire out (the roof, the floor, the walls). I'm gonna go see over today and try to give some support.

About how it started... Well, its a long story so ill make it short. This guy has been giving death threats to my friend's family saying he was going to kill them and such... Well, he may have tried with a bomb or something (hence the explosion)... Its not clear yet. The arsen team is investigating.

Meanwhile, him and his family are at a hotel. I guess they are going to move into a neighbor's RV for a while... I wish i could do more to help... The insurance companies are going to try to fight any costs they will have to pay (of course)...

Anyway... just thought i would get that out... thanks for reading.

Yeah... Its gonna take at least a couple months to get everything repaired... and we are going into winter...

Just be a litle more understanding to your friend if he seems a little jumpy or snaps at you a lil...He's got a lot to deal w/ and misunderstandings between frinds at this time won't help.......Sorry to hear about it all......hope they make out in this.....and if it was the guy trying something, may god have mercy on his soul cause if he tried that to my house, I wouldn't....

Best wishes to your friend .21 fires can be hard to cope with. At least they are still alive.

i could see plaid running him down with his " bad ass truck"

more serious though.. i know where your friend is at.. my moms apartment got burnt down because some drugy next door was cooking meth in the closet of her kids room and it asploded.. just be the best friend you can be, being there for him and his family will be worth way more then any money or material thing you could throw at the situation.. maby offer to let him stay at your place so he doesn't have to stay at the hotel..

damn that sucks!, like others have said everyones ok & it doesn't sound like anything irreplacable was burnt (except the iguanas & snakes) like paperwork or old photos etc..

hope they catch the bastard if was him ....any idea how old the person making the threats was?

man that sucks an i fought my old MT2 catching fire was bad, glad to here evry1 got out ok hope the little tw*ts get caught soon

Whats with this guy and the threats?
Do they know who he is??
I'd look into that one right away.

Sorry for your friends problems, and the loss of his pets.

well, i just got back from his house... i have some pics i'll post up in a minute... I dont think the arsen was involved, but it can't be ruled out... Everything is a mess. The house is structurally OK. I'm sure there were some photos and posessions lost that are irreplacable... There were inspectors and insurance people there today looking it over... sounds to me like everything is covered...

Alright, i got my pics uploaded... I had to send all 30 of them to my friend's brother in TX. He is the one who owns the corvette... Well, here they are...

the miata headlight got melted from sitting in front of the garage... there is also some bubbled paint, but definitly fixable... unlike the other carnage...

They had to rip this hole in the ceiling in my friends room to make sure the fire was stopped...

It all looks horrible... I am just greatful it didnt catch them while they were all asleep. I'm gonna be over there tomorrow... His brother wants me to get the vette to my house to see if anything is salvagable... It it is (engine/tranny/rearend/brakes/suspension), then its gonna come to my house and we are gonna chop it up and get the good stuff out. He only insured it to 18k, and it is worth over 26k... anyway... I'm glad everyone is ok...

Anyone see the pics? I went over yesterday any they seemed to be calmed down a lot. The insurance people are extremely nice, and are very willing to help. I hope everything turns out ok. They have a rental house just down the street they have to stay in 3-6 months depending on the construction time. The people are going to start tearing everything apart today and start cleaning up the mess. I'll be sure to get updated photos of the progress when it happens...

man thats bad.. the explosions were prolly the truck and car gas tanks.. is that his room directly above the garage? glad there ok things can replaced, peopl can't.

oh and is that a hood pin on the miata??

Both gas tanks on the cars are fine... no holes or punctures... They even had some gas cans in the garage that didnt explode... they had the lid melted to the top, and there was still gas in there...

Yes, his room is directly above the garage, and if he were asleep when this happened, i wouldnt be talking to him anymore if you know what i mean...

Yea, the hood is pinned on the miata. Its a custom car his brother built and sold to him.

i was reading the thread and thought why the beef against insurance adjusters, and then I saw that they did an alright job, they love to tak care of you when you have all the right insurance, that is a BUMMER!!! on getting your garage burnt, very difficult with all the water damage and smoke damage it can be a huge mess!

Yeah, i just stopped by today... The garage is now cleared out, and there is a big dumpster in the driveway where that pile of stuff is to be inventoried, then thrown away... It is a big mess, but they are workin hard at it. I was over there helping pack up some more of their stuff... They are feeling a lot better today... It seems to be going alright so far. We will see how it turns out...
