well, i took the leap and got back into rc. decided to go nitro. now I'm getting a crash course. i have a revo with a axial .28. rebuilt it(crank,piston.sleeve}. it was a first for me but, was simple enough. went to run it and 15 seconds into idling the piston stuck. now my local shop that sold me the parts said this normal until it has been broken in. i could be wrong but, does this sound normal?

It hasn't happened to me personally, but I have heard of it happening. Heat the engine up with a heat gun or hair dryer to free up the piston. Make sure there was no gaulding/scarring before trying to run it again. Then heat the engine again before starting it.

it happen to me on the first motor i bought, i didnt check for gaulding which i should of did but i did use a hair dryer and it was able to start before that i could not get the piston to move at all the pitch too tight on a fresh trx 3.3but I'm sure its a similar issue

Progress

The blow dryer method is working so far I ran 3 tanks for a heat cycling. I'm told that as annoying it might be to stick that in the long run it will be a really tight good performing engine. Well see

Yes heat cycle is the best way to do it for sure. You did set the carb back to the rich factory setting though right? If not the poor thing is starving for oil right now. I have had that happen once....I always use a heat gun to pre-heat to 240 before the first start now.

yeah i richened it up for the first 3 cycles to the point there was a puddle under the pipe. I'm not going that route again.lean and mean. hopping that i dont need a heat gun for the first 1/4 throttle runs. parking lot doesn't have electric, well see how this goes. will probably need to lean it out a little bit to get going way to rich rite now.
