Sold / Found FREE: Hamster Cages

Okay, I know this's probably one of the most rediculous "for sale" items, but I know there's a few members on the forum with kids.

So anyhoo, two of my three hamsters have passed on to that magical place so i've got two cages just sitting around. They were both pretty expensive so I can't see just throwing them out. I'm giving them away, all I ask is you pay for shipping.

S.A.M. Fifth Avenue Duplex Kit (current retail is $57, I think it was around $70 when I bought it)

CritterTrail Two Cage (current retail is $30, although I swear it was like $80 when I bought it)

I'm gonna set shipping at an even $10 for each or $15 for both. If it's more then i'll cover the rest of the cost, if it's less, i'll refund whatever is left over

4u2nv, if masterbeavis takes them, don't worry, I have another cage...but currently it's occupied, lol. But my last hamster has been having some serious health problems so i'd say within a month or so she should have passed on. If you want I can make a mental note and let you know when I can send it to ya?

It's a S.A.M. Palace Kit..only thing is it doesn't have the yellow hold down strap anymore

Yeah, old age. One died at around 2 years old, then the other died at 1.5 years old. My last one is around 2 years old also.

One thing though, do you guys know if your hamsters are dwarfs or syrian hamsters? Dwarfs are the smaller more hyper ones, while Syrians are the more laid back ones that are a little smaller than a rat?

Because the S.A.M. cages really aren't big enough for the Syrians. Syrians can find themselves stuck in the tubes if they suddenly decide to turn around midway through.

Now, i'm not positive, but i'm pretty sure the crittertrail IS big enough for Syrians...but not by much.

My cousin who lives next door has had his same hamster since he was in 6th grade. Hes just going into 8th grade now...uh oh... Hope he aint to attached to it since it seems to be in its average age to die..lol...

Yeah, sounds like his hamster is getting up in age. The hardest part about seeing hamsters in old age is how much their moods change. They don't do the things they used to...like run in the wheel. My hamsters ended up just sleeping ALL the time and didn't do much more than that.

If the hamster is taken care of properly, don't be surprised if the little guy lives to see over two years. Best thing to do is to keep him happy and healthy. And watch for any abnormal changes like too much water being drank because that can be signs of dehydration or wettail (diarhea, which can be fatal to hamsters).

BTW Kwong, that's generous of you to give them away. Don't see that kinda generosity much anymore.
