I decided to take a break from my chemistry and Pre-cal homework to enjoy a thorough bashing of my savage. I go out in the garage, get it ready and start it up after a couple pulls. I have a pretty big neighborhood so the lots i think are 1.5 to 2 acres. So i was running it in my backyard and just cruzing from the backyard to my driveway. As I started to turn to come back to the backyard, my savage took off flying right in my front yard at WOT. In its path of destruction was a solar light my dad got for christmas that he has lined up along our parking pads in the front of our driveway. After demolishing the light it flipped a couple times and ended up on its lid. At this point i was wondering WTF? So on its lid its revving at WOT and stuff so i run over and quickly shut if off with my new safety stop button. My big Joe's came unglued in some small parts near the wheel so i tucked them back in.

I looked across the street and saw my 9 or 10 year old neighbor playing with his new gas R/c... He must have gotten it for his birthday or somthing and I'm glad he has because i now have someone to bash with but i wish i didn't find out like this.

I think he's a bit young to be having a Nitro R/c truck but who knows. I think i might have to go buy either some new crystals or a fail safe. But i was hoping to spend the money on some new hop-ups...

What do you guys think i should do?

First thing you should do is ask the neighbor: "what frequency and channel he is running on."

If he is on the same as your Savage....then you know what happened.

If not you need to look into a few things:

Dead Batteries TX and RX
Receiver Glitching

Etc...

Hope this helps!

Mr T

well the batteries are fine, and it was running fine in the backyard and in the 3 years I've had the savage I've had no glitches because of radio interferance or anything like that. I guess next time he's out i'll ask him. I'm almost positive we have the same channel.

Thanks

get a failsafe, or at the very least a throttle return spring. if u haven't had a runaway in 3 yrs consider yourself lucky. $30 bucks for a failsafe beats 400 for a new truck...just my .02

I agree.
Get a failsafe non the less.

I read a review in RC Driver that the venom falisafes would kick in when 2 TX's on the same channel were turned on..but the Ofna's failsafe failed to kick in when the same thing occured. Just passing a long the article to you..i forget what month it was.

I have Ofna failsafes in my rides..and have only had one run away in 3 years.

Sumo, i thought about it. Like another lion invading my territory.. lol

i do have a TRS but when some other radio is controlling my car it wont do me any good.

I looked on tower and found 2 venom fail safes, one that had a blinky light, and another that had a digital thermometer on it as well. Is the regular Venom venom fail safe ok?

yes, the regular one is fine.

I've never run a failsafe. When my bro had one it caused more problems then it fixed. Just my experience.

Go and get yourslelf so crystals and call it a day. My .02

not sure, but I think the temp one will only shut down from hi temp.......
I don't run failsafes persoanlly.....it caused too many issues w/ mine...now I have a DSM setup though so it's all included in the RX......I'd get some spare crystals...and try the failsafe if you have the potential for this again...I've only been playing at a track and it's all closed in...not too worried about runaways myself but I'm a lil loopy when it comes to safety issues anyway...LOL...

suprisingly nothing broke, unlue the tires got unglued about a half inch on both left wheels from them ballooning when it was upside down.

I think ill go with a new crystal since i'm tight on money and in the future, when he is running his car, i would like to be able to run mine too. Not just have the brakes be applied whenever there is interference so we can't ever bash together

venom fail safe is a good investment. the new one with the temp moniter and fail safe in 1 i didnt like, to hard to try and mount the thing to your reciver and then streach the prob wire to your motor. i like having them seperate... just my 2 c.
I dont like running with out a fail safe, I've had runaways befor and its no fun....
