:p:i succesfully (i think) done the forward only conversion but my problem now is that the forward rod is slightly bigger than the previous so wont fit into my driveshaft, do i need to buy a whole new driveshaft that will fit or is there a part that i am missing, any help would be appreciated as its been a while now since I've had my maxx out

Hang on, the FOC kit is designed to be a direct replacement kit to take reverse out of the trans, and your saying the "rod" by which i assume you mean "gear shaft" (layshaft to my mind) is too big ??

or are you saying something entirely different ?

This phrase is particularly confusing (to my mind at least)

the forward rod is slightly bigger than the previous so wont fit into my driveshaft

What do you mean by that ? do you mean the shaft will not fit in your transmission ?

What version rig have you got btw...............

i have tmaxx 4909 and yes the gear shaft is bigger in diameter and slightly longer in length so wont fit into my output drives, i recently bought output drives (trx 5054) that would work( a right pain to fix them on) but now the hexagonal blue brake thing doesn't fit on so now have to buy the 4908 hexagonal part but now I'm unsure if i will have to buy another another drive shaft part as i can't complete it till i have this part, this has been a real pain in the arse for a supposed simple conversion but I'm learning more about my truck with every upgrade or conversion

What do you mean slightly bigger? Around? Or longer?

slightly bigger in diameter and slightly longer as well

Ok, I've had a look on my fave suppliers site and from what i can make out, there are TWO conversion sets.

irst up, is part# 5394x FOC Kit (Revo),

The second, consists of a seperate gear and shaft.

Part # TRX 4994r (gear)
Part# TRX 4994x (shaft)

Not quite sure why that is the case, but it sure as heck is and I am not overly sure if these parts are the same or different. What i do know, is that somehow, somewhere an error has been made.

I can't quite tell you why the revo one is different, maybe longer/shorter. I don't know. The one you want is p/n trx5195. 5394x is revo, 4994x I think must be for the oldest of the maxxes. Which one did you get?

2revo... how is that a revo part is listed as being suityed to a tmaxx then ? could it be that the new tmaxx has the same tranny maybe ?

Ok boss, here we go. For the t-maxx 4909 it is #5195, shafts are 5151. These are a different # than the older 4910 2.5 maxx, whick takes 4994x. The 4908/4907 maxx has all revo driveline taking part #5394x. You must have the revo/4908 shaft. You may have to replace the diffs and all 6 shafts to make it work, then it still might not. I would take the foc out and get the right one, #5195.

Yeah the maxxes changed to a 'revo-spec' driveline. I thought it started on the 2.5R then the 4909, but maybe they just beefed 'em a little. Then for the 4908/4907 went to a full-on revo spec. There are 3 foc's and 3 types of center shaft available. I need a smoke,:smoke: that was alot of searching.....LOL.

dayamn !! that really makes me glad they kept the same trans for the revo !!!

And if i know Traxxaas like i think i do from an "overheads" point of view, sliding the revo trans into the max cuts costs by eliminating the need to produce two distinctlky different trans cases.

As far as i see now, the only difference is that the maxx trans case is grey...........

I'm pretty sure that's it. The diffs are interchangeable as well as the axle carriers. You do have to swap diff housings however. The only real difference I can think of is bell/spur size and gear pitch. But the final drive ratio ends up about the same as both the cb and spur are larger.
