hi I have a savage xl with the force 36 5.9 engine, when I start it it revs really high and the wheels go round, if I apply the brake to stop the wheels the car cuts out. I have tried various settings but the car still seems to want to run with the wheels engaged and flat out.

1,Does anybody know the correct settings for this engine

2, why do the wheel spin when its running

any advice would be great I've been at it since 8am this morning

Couple things it could be. Id say either its too lean or idle screw is too far out causin it to idle high enough to engage the clutch. Or the clutch inside the clutch bell could be stuck, which I doubt but that happened on my tmaxx last weekend. The clutch had a small piece that chipped off so it was permanently locked open. Because of that the second I hit the brakes it'd stop the motor causin it to shut off instantly. Hope that helps.

is there a way I can check the clutch, does anyone know where the LSN should be set i have the HSN at 3 1/2 turns out from closed and the carb is at 1mm.

I don't know settings on that series motor, all I know is stock setting on the trx motors, sorry. As far as the clutch tho, if its like the tmaxx, you pull the motor off then there should be a c clip that holds the bell on. Pop that off then slide the clutch bell off and check the shoes. Like I said on my maxx a piece chipped off causin the engine to stay engaged, then the second u hit the breaks it would shut it off cuz the motor would stop with it.
If its rollin forward tho, either way its prolly too lean. Do you have a temp gun to check your engine temps? If so let us know what they are. Also look at the smoke trail and see how it is. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
