I am not usually one to complain... but I just got back from the doctors office. I got the flu shot. I hate needles and I would rather get the flu than get stuck. I didn't start getting the flu shot until my kids were born. I figured that I wouldn't want to give the flu to them should I catch it. So every year reluctanly I go and get stuck. Damn it hurts! She stuck me, which hurt... then came the slow burn of the injection.... kind of like taking a shot of old granddad.... slow burn. Now it just feels like someone just punched me in the arm. My 3 year old daughter gets her flu shot on Thursday. I promised her that daddy would get one too.... ahhhh what we do for our kids. Excuse me while I go take some more advil....

Lol wimp! :hehe: just kidding. Needles have never bothered me, I think its cool watching them pierce the skin then go in. I always watch. Havent gotten one yet this year but I will prolly next month.
I've tattooed myself several times too and it never gets painful enough to bother me, I really do find it entertaining to some point.

I have to say needles are my biggest fear. Spiders and bees are a close second though! For some reason I just can't get over the thought of getting a shot. It's not the pain after the shot that bothers me, it's when they stick the needle in. Every time I get one I have to look away and talk about something to distract myself from it.

^^^thats why it should be an option to have topless nurses.

Needles don't bother me that much either. In fact, when I do have to go to the doctors, I usually ask them if they need to take some blood. If they say they don't need to, I get pretty disappointed.

I know. I'm weird.

I am a whimp when it comes to needles... I admit it! I have to look away and think of naked wo... I mean my wife! I also force myself to have a full physical every year too, with blood work. I am getting more used to it.. although I still don't watch. The last time they took blood the nurse pushed right through my vein and when she started to wiggle the needle around.... I passed right out! Got the tunnel vision first followed by the extream sweating and boom! right out. My wife thinks it was hilarious. The worst part was that they didn't get any blood and after I came to, they had to stick me all over again.

Topless nurses would be sweet!!!

i would NOT get a flu shot unless it really worked 4 out of 5 years. i have not had the flu for at least 25 years.

I HATE needles, but each year, i get damn near every annual shot due to my job. My 100% biggest fear on duty is getting stuck with an HIV Positive needle. I've been pricked before by a needle in a crackhead's pocket, and had to go through all the testing and everything and fortunatly everything came back negative. Turns out it was a brand new needle, but still. Such a scary thought. Worst 8 months of my life waiting on the results.

I have gotten the flu shot twice and both years I had the flu. So I screw it. They said they were giving all the employees one this year and I told them not me. The only flu that I get is the good old one bottle flu.

I get the flu shot every year because I install Home Theater/automation therefore I'm constantly in customer's houses and who knows what sickness they may or may not have. As for my kids, thier doctor offers an inhaled version of the flu "shot" which we get for them every year. This may me an ooption for those that aren't too fond of needles. It costs a little more (about $35 plus another $40 office visit for two kids) but is well worth it from a parents point of view.

I get them every year. The doctor insists on me getting them because of chronic health problems.

Why the hell didn't they take your blood while you were out? I'm the same as you with needles, especially if they take my blood. Just knowing what they're doing gives me cold sweats.

That's what I said... just stick me while I'm out! But they said something about that they couldn't do it because they wanted to make sure I was ok first. After they finally took my blood they would not let me leave for like 30 minutes after.

Alpine... man I feel for you. That would be one of my greatest fears as well. I do the IT work for our local sheriff's office and I have asked them that question before. There have been a few that have been stuck while patting someone down. Thankfully though everyone was ok.

Yea, that's why I paid like $75 for reinforced Kevlar pat down gloves that are stick proof. Saved me more than a few occasions.

That's 75$ well spent.

8 months waiting for a test result. That's just brutal.

I hate needles, always have,a nd always will! When I was a kid especially, I had them use the "butterfly" needle everytime because I was so scared, already got my flu shot and it was scary lol :hehe:.

I have a blood disorder where if I get lets say a common cold, it hits me x1000... Therefore I have to make sure the flue shot is the dead virus and not live, because then I get sick as a dog for 2-3 days.. No thanks.....

My brother-in-law is a nurse. Just say no to that one being topless.

my mom is a nurse so i gotta say no to the topless one's unless its the 19 yr old nurse at the doctors office !

and i dont mind needles at all

I wouldn't have minded the nurses being topless when I got my last tetanus shot 15 years ago. In stead I fainted in front of to very cute nurses. Yeah, I felt like a real man after that.

Don't feel bad, I pass out during shots as well. I always tell em before hand, and sometimes the nice nurse let's me lay in her lap. :)
