I recently put a new glow plug in, as the old one died. I haven't been able to start it since. I tried backing it out a little, but then it just leaked. I tried putting a little machine oil in because my friend had used it before and it helped.

It will turn when I take the plug out, but when it's in, the light on the starter box turns off the glow plug light, like it flooded. I don't know what else to try:\

I did try emptying the excess fuel, but it didn't seem to make a difference

I have seen brand new plugs that were bad, it's rare, but can happen. Machine oil? Doesn't sound like it's going to help anything.

The machine oil is just more crap to get on the plug and one way bearing. Sounds like your one way bearing is dirty. Take the ez start off and blast the bearing out with nitro cleaner. Clean the shaft that the bearing rides on as well. Put one drop of thin oil on it and reassemble. If the engine is still new, heat it up with a hair dryer until it is as warm as it will get. It's advisable to pick up a separate glow ignitor. They work way better than the ez start heater. With the separate ignitor, you have the option of cracking the glow plug loose until the engine starts. Tighten it as soon as the engine is running. Cracking the plug loose aids in starting by relieving some compression and taking stress off of the one way bearing, rod and bearings. You should only have to do these procedures while the engine is new. Make sure your not flooding it.
