Flooding carb

So I have been trying to run my GX-12 and i have had it running before then needed to buy a new spur gear (different problem i have hopefully sorted now) so i took the motor out to clean it and added a better condition carb and exhaust. I have now got the spur gear but when ever I try to start it floods every time i try to start it it floods and i have put back to factory settings and still nothing, iv even tried having the HSN at just 1 turn and the factory setting say 3 turns. I am using 16% hpi racing fuel? is that ok for a .12? i have added a pic just to make sure i am adjusting the right needle, the big black/grey one above the clutch can't miss it. I know the pic is a GT but the GX is in my car so its easier to photograph the GT and they use a very similar set up as far as i can tell?

Sorry forgot to mention before. it has started twice but as soon as i touch the throttle it cuts straight out and wont start . My apologies if this is a very newbie question

I'd look at the hsn itself first. See if its damaged or crushed at the point.

nope, both the needles of this carb and the new one look fin, i just had it running for about 15 mins with the HSN as tight as i could but then when it got hot it would idle then stall all most every time i tried to use the throttle :s. When i bought the engin the guy said he had put 2.5 liters of 16% through it.

What was wrong with the old carb? Is the new carb the same model as the one originally on the engine? If yes, compare needles; the one in your present carb may not be the correct one.

both carbs/needles are from the exactly the same model. The second carb is just cleaner and looks in better condition than the old one. Both needles look exactly the same condition.

Not sure about the Kyosho GX-12 engine but most engines will have a cut out relief in the piston skirt that must face the carb side of the engine when installed or the engine will not run correctly and flood very easily.
A broken piston skirt can also cause the same symptoms.
If you had the piston out of the engine you may want to have a look to see if its installed correctly, or even look to see if it is damaged.

If it dies when you hit throttle you need to richen the LSN.

I tend to wonder how long you allow an engine to warm up from a cold start?
a cold start i do up on a block with a 4.6 and crack open my throttle trim just a bit. The engines starts straight up but i allow about 30 seconds of open throttle trim before i begin backing it off to where the wheels slow their spin down to the point of just turning. by this time the cooling head has a nice warm but just slightly hot temp. another 30 seconds and i warm up the drive train by just using the trottle trim to do a few small laps. once i do that i bring trim to neutral and it idles sweet and dont gun trigger at first as it may stall...once i manage a slow acceleration it runs fine. A warm engine from a prievious run needs none of this warm up procedure.....even though they are small they still require a warm up from cold of no less than 2 mins....

I might add that ambient temps will effect warm up time. I am gauging this example at a temp of around 70 f

This style carb doesn't have a LSN, as use full as it would be to have an LSN . if i don't do this warm up will seriously affect the the engine i.e make it flood so badly?
